The Fergal O’Brien team have finally found the key to LORD P, who has shown the benefit of a breathing operation and return to sprinting to win his last two starts at Catterick and Thirsk. He was strong in the betting and again won with a bit up his sleeve last month, travelling best and quickly putting the race to bed. This is a much harder test he faces now, but he is clearly on a roll and looks up to completing a hat-trick despite being 2 lb out of the handicap. Call Me Ginger deservedly ended his long run at Hamilton last time and rates the main threat.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:40 Daiquiri Francais

DAIQUIRI FRANCAIS showed next to nothing on debut at Newbury but she has gone from strength to strength since, winning back-to-back minor events over six furlongs at Windsor in July and August. Admittedly, she was only workmanlike last time, but an opening mark of 78 may well underestimate her now entering nurseries. Summer’s Day has to be respected also, while Gnat Alley, who very much caught the eye at Ripon last time, is also high on the shortlist.

14:10 Ever Given

It is hard to argue with EVER GIVEN’s strike rate having won four of her six starts, and the form of her latest success in a valuable sales race is working out well with the second and third both finishing placed in listed and pattern company since. He again looks the one to beat at the weights and he is expected to emulate Wootton Bassett, who was the last horse to complete the same double in 2010. Harrow posted a very useful performance when landing a nursery at the Ebor meeting and he’s feared most ahead of Jazz Club, whose trainer Roger Varian has taken this twice since 2017.

14:40 Inspiral

INSPIRAL has made a devastating start to her career, showing an excellent turn of foot to make a winning debut at Newmarket in June and proving herself a potentially smart filly when following up in a listed event at Sandown in July and she is currently the ante-post favourite for the 1000 guineas at Newmarket next year. This looks the obvious next step up the ladder and it will be bitterly disappointing if she isn’t able to complete a hat-trick. Prosperous Voyage is second choice on form.

15:15 Tribal Craft

TRIBAL CRAFT has looked an improved performer at the age of five this year, winning a Group 3 at York and proving better than ever when finishing second to Wonderful Tonight in the Lillie Langtry at Goodwood in July. She wasn’t seen to best effect in the Ebor at York last time and that is probably why she is a bigger price here than she should be, so she is worth supporting ahead of the progressive and shorter priced Free Wind.

Doncaster Races

15:45 Motawaajed

MOTAWAAJED is proving most progressive, winning his last two starts on turf at Lingfield and over course and distance in the style of a horse who has even more to offer. He proved for the first time that he can dig deep for his latest success, leading but under pressure for much of the final furlong but always holding the runner-up. The handicapper has only raised him 2 lb for that and he seems sure to launch another bold bid with conditions in his favour. Modern News very likely has a bigger performance in him, too, and is feared most.

16:15 Sinjaari

This could well get tactical, but SINJAARI ran right up to his best and left the impression he was unlucky not to win on his debut for this yard after seven months off at York last month, denied a run two furlongs out but finishing best of the lot. He can confirm the promise of that run with a victory over Harrovian, who is narrowly preferred to Secret Protector for second.
