The great Ruby Walsh returns to take a look at Saturday’s races at Goodwood, Newmarket and Beverley. All three tracks play host to ITV Racing’s coverage this weekend so let’s see if Ruby can find some more winners.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
He was in cracking form last weekend and while best known for his exploits over obstacles, our Ruby clearly knows a thing or two about this Flat-racing malarkey. So, listen up, here’s Ruby’s Saturday tips taken from this week’s From The Horse’s Mouth podcast.
13:50 at Goodwood – Value Theory (E/W)
I was going for a trainer who loves it at Goodwood and that’s Mark Johnston and his Value Theory. Never disregard Mark Johnston. Joe Fannning rides Value Theory here and I just think it has an each-way shout. It’s guaranteed to get the trip, good draw in stall three. This one might prove hard to pass.
14:05 at Beverley – Titian
I was struggling with this race and I’ve kind of come down on the side of Titian for Tom Marquand and William Haggas. I just felt he was unexposed. He hasn’t run since October 2020. He’s a 3yo now, he could well have improved. Purely going for one that’s unexposed.
14:25 at Goodwood – Escobar (E/W)
I’m going for a horse who is completely exposed but actually caught my eye on his last start at York last week and it’s Escobar. He’s had more runs than myself and Matt Chapman have given tips on From The Horse’s Mouth, but he came home really well from well of the pace.
He does like to come from off the pace so you know he’s going to be held up but I just thought it looked like he was in really good form. He’s a seven year old and I thought he was coming back to win the race. I’m going to go for Escobar each way.
14:45 at Newmarket – Tabdeed (NAP)
I think Tabdeed is a worthy favourite and I’m going to stick with it. I think it’ll definitely hold the form with Royal Crusade who was 5 lengths behind it last time up at Newbury. I’m going to stick with Tabdeed, he’ll do me.
15:00 at Goodwood – Dancing King
Nagano’s going to be pretty skinny. I was actually going for Dancing King against him through the form lines of Yibir and I’m going to stick with Dancing King. I think it’s pretty strong form. Nagano’s obviously going to be hard to beat but Matt Chapman’s talked me out of tipping odds-on shots on From The Horse’s Mouth. I’ve had to go looking for the value elsewhere!

15:15 at Beverley – Hurricane Ivor
I’m going for Hurricane Ivor. I thought it ran a brilliant race last week at York behind Copper Knight where he got bumped out of stalls, ended up quite far back and didn’t get the clearest of runs and was flying home to finish third. He gets a quick chance to make amends but I thought he was a shade unlucky in York last week.
15:35 at Goodwood – Chindit
Benbatl’s only not won twice on a comeback run and most importantly for me one of those was his last start. He’s a seven year old, fair play for them to keeping him in training but I want to oppose him. I’m going to go with Chindit.
