DETECTIVE has already recorded three wins over this course and distance this summer and he ran right up to his best when second over a longer trip here last time. He was beaten a little over a length on that occasion and may have been unlucky not to finish closer still after conceding first run to the winner. He can race from the same mark here and looks sure to give another good account.
RAMBUSO CREEK shaped well when second on his debut at Pontefract earlier this month, picking up well in the straight to pass the post just a head behind the winner. That form is the best on offer in this line-up, while the small ‘p’ attached to his Timeform rating denotes that he is open to further progress. Therefore, Rambuso Creek rates a confident selection to get off the mark at the second attempt.
OUT THE HAT was below his best on his latest outing at Ripon, but he had plausible excuses (ridden too aggressively) and appeals as the type to bounce back quickly. This represents a significant drop in grade and there should be more races to be won with him from a mark only 4 lb higher than when recording his latest success at Haydock in July.
GRIFTER still looked green when second in a novice event at Redcar last month, hanging left under pressure and doing well under the circumstances to be beaten just a length. He now makes the switch to nurseries and will command plenty of respect from an opening BHA mark of 75. After all, it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him yet, with the step up to seven furlongs also fancied to unlock more improvement.
ROYAL PROSPECT was beaten less than a length and probably should have given the winner even more to think about when fourth at Doncaster last time. He was hampered over a furlong out and forced to switch before finishing strongly in the manner of a horse ready to take advantage of his much-reduced mark. He remains unexposed over seven furlongs and this looks a good opportunity for him to end a losing run stretching back to July 2019.

KENTUCKY KITTEN opened his account at Redcar in July and then ran at least as well in defeat when third at Doncaster last time. He raced clear of the field on the last occasion and stuck to his task well after being headed entering the final furlong, ultimately passing the post just a length and a quarter behind the winner. He can race from the same mark here and looks to have plenty in his favour in a race where he could get an easy time of things on the front end.
WOTS THE WIFI CODE was beaten at short odds on his most recent outing at Hamilton, but it’s far too soon to be writing him off after just bad run. He had created an excellent impression when winning his previous start at Ripon, drawing clear late on to land the spoils by three and a quarter lengths. He still looks potentially well treated from an 8 lb higher mark if getting back to that level.
