REAL WORLD has been a massive improver since exploding on the scene with a bloodless victory at Royal Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup and he doubled his tally when making no mistake over slightly further at Newbury last time.
He stamped himself as clearly on the up and this intermediate distance looks absolutely ideal for him to thrive. His returning rider Marco Ghiani could continue his climb up the ladder towards his champion apprentice title with a victory in this one.
REACH FOR THE MOON definitely has a touch of attitude as he showed when being very coltish before his excellent run in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. It was a similar story at Newbury last time, but it was an easy victory in the end. Provided they can keep him mentally on track, he could well be The Derby horse that the Queen is hoping for next season.
MARSHALL PLAN has been raised a little in the handicap for his staying-on effort last time over shorter at Newcastle, suggesting that this distance is absolutely ideal now stepping up in trip. He was second behind Mandoob at Lingfield in April, and Mandoob rubberstamped that form when chasing home Yibir in the Bahrain Trophy Stake at Newmarket.
Yibir then went on to win earlier in the week here at the Ebor Festival. James Doyle comes in for the ride on Marshall Plan as Frankie Dettori is at Sandown riding for The Queen.
Like our pick in the previous race at Sandown, INDIGO GIRL also has her share of attitude. But, there is no doubt that she is blessed with a massive amount of ability. It was no more than a reappearance run for the filly last time and that should’ve blown away the cobwebs as she starts to go through the grades again this season. This is a stepping stone onto Group One company for her.
I’m surprised SPACE BLUES is not shorter in market having proven himself as an absolute 7 furlongs specialist. Last year‘s winner Safe Voyage will guarantee a strong pace along with our selection’s stablemate, Glorious Journey. That all adds up to a perfect set up for Space Blues to travel in behind the leaders and pounce late.
I cannot believe the odds on MAX VEGA. He has a favourable turnaround in the weights with the three horses that were slightly in front of him last time out on his seasonal reappearance.
He stays well, he’s proven with some ease in the ground and if the rain (which is forecasted) arrives before this contest, that is going to suit our selection perfectly. Last year’s winner Fujaira Prince has to give Max Vega a full 8lbs, having raced him off level weights last time. He has really got to be a big each-way player in the Ebor Handicap.
