POSSIBLE AMBITION ran his best race yet when only narrowly denied at Beverley last month, going down by just a neck to an unexposed handicap debutant. That showed Possible Ambition has slipped to a competitive mark and he should give another good account for the in-form John Quinn yard. He has the assistance of Simon Walker, the most experienced amateur rider in this contest.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
14:35 Dr Youmzain
DR YOUMZAIN is bred to be sharp, but he looked in need of the experience when only beating one rival home on debut at Doncaster last month. Dr Youmzain stepped up markedly on that effort when third at Lingfield last month, looking suited by the step up to 6 furlongs, and he is entitled to progress again.
15:10 Tashkhan
TASHKHAN is a progressive three-year-old and should prove difficult to beat here. Tashkhan appreciated the step up in trip to a mile-and-three-quarters when beating a subsequent winner in a strong handicap at Haydock last month and he should have no problem with this further step up in trip. He has some solid form to his name, is going the right way and is open to further improvement.
15:45 Six Strings
SIX STRINGS has enjoyed a productive campaign since joining Grant Tuer, winning twice and finishing placed five times from eight starts for the yard. Six Strings has finished runner-up on his last four outings, but there’s no reason to doubt his attitude.
He shaped liked a well-handicapped performer when going down by just a head last time. He competes off the same mark here and can gain a deserved success.
16:20 Harry George
HARRY GEORGE made little impact on his return at Newcastle in June, but he was entitled to need the run on his first outing of the year. He enjoyed a productive campaign in 2020, winning on three occasions, and he is only 1lb higher than when successful at Musselburgh last July. He ran well when third over this course and distance last season and should launch another bold bid.
16:55 Van Gerwen
VAN GERWEN goes well around here and registered a third win over course-and-distance when successful here recently. That comfortable two-and-a-half-length success was his best effort since 2018 and a 4lbs penalty should not be enough to stop him following up if he is in similar heart.
17:30 Highly Sprung
HIGHLY SPRUNG has won six times over this course and distance, and produced his best effort of the campaign when runner-up here last month. That was a stronger race than the one he contests here, so he holds obvious claims for trainer Les Eyre – whose string are in decent form at present.
