13:10 Manu Et Corde (NAP)

Jim Bolger has won this twice in the last three years, including with MacSwiney last year who won this year’s Irish 2,000 Guineas. This looks to be between Shark Bay and Manu Et Corde who met here last month when Shark Bay was 3rd and Manu Et Corde was 5th with a neck between them.

Manu Et Corde was well backed that day, going off favourite, and I think he will come on plenty for the run, though on first watching of the replay you would think that Shark Bay will uphold the form as he came from further back

Aidan O’ Brien won this race six times in last 10 years. I just think that some of Aidan’s aren’t taking as big a step forward from debut as you would normally expect and Shark Bay doesn’t have any Group entries which is surprising. I think Manu Et Corde will take a big step forward here .

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:45 Admiral D

I’m quite sweet on Admiral D in this one. It had a lovely debut when 4th at Fairyhouse in May, winner Velocidad won at Group 2 level on next start and 3rd Chestnutter was unlucky at Leopardstown this week when a close 3rd to give that form a solid look.

Admiral D then went to Listowel for his 2nd start over 6f and was a nice winner over Threebagsfull who re-opposes off 7lb worse terms, so I would expect Admiral D to uphold that form. The Listowel form is working out nicely with Threebagsfull winning next time, as did the 4th, while the 3rd and 5th were placed in maidens on their next starts

Admiral D was dropped to 5f for the Windsor Castle on his next start and found the trip on faster ground against him, but wasn’t disgraced when a 7-length 11th. But back up in trip to 6f is a positive and think a mark of 87 is workable. I’d be very keen on him I think he’ll take all the beating.

14:20 Beauty Inspire

You couldn’t help being anything other than impressed with how Beauty Inspire won under hands and heels riding at the Curragh on Derby weekend. He didn’t get a touch of the whip and the form has worked out reasonably well already.

The 3rd was beaten a similar distance by a nice horse next out, the 4th was beaten a neck in a maiden, the 5th was beaten a short head in its next start. Beauty Inspire will take a lot of beating.

He has a Group 1 entry and Ger Lyons doesn’t make those unless he thinks he has a real chance. I will be disappointed if he gets turned over here. Let’s enjoy him while we can because I don’t think it will be long before he’s heading off to Hong Kong.

14:50 Measure of Magic

Logo Hunter was behind Measure Of Magic at Navan back in April and think the better ground will suit the filly more than Logo Hunter. Measure of Magic easily defied a penalty at Cork after that Navan win and wasn’t disgraced in when 3rd in what looks to be a good renewal of the Commonwealth Cup

The 2nd Dragon Symbol was 2nd in the July Cup, the 5th laws Of Indices won a Group 1 in France and even the 10th Happy Romance was a close 3rd in a Group 3 subsequently. Johnny Murtagh’s yard are in great form and think Measure Of Magic can uphold that Navan form with Logo Hunter. I think Measure of Magic will turn over Logo Hunter, I really do.

15:25 Willow (Without Snowfall)

I like Willow. Last year she looked very progressive. She was behind Nicest at Leopardstown and then got off the mark there in October in her third start. I was keeping a close eye on her and she was a little disappointing at Navan when favourite for a Listed race and then again in the Blue Wind Stakes, she went off joint favourite, and was third.

It looked like she was getting the hang of things when she won a Listed race at Naas last time out. Look, she’s no chance of turning over Snowfall. None. But, Nicest and Divinely, I don’t think they’re top class at all and Willow seems to be getting her act together.

Willow is a decent price with us in the betting without Snowfall and I thought it was interesting that Seamie Heffernan’a on her rather than Divinely. That might be a small hint.

16:00 Rough Diamond (E/W)

It’s Rough Diamond for me in this one. I’m very interested in this. He’s a very lightly raced 4 year old with only five career starts. He must have surprised connections a little when winning on debut here at the Curragh over 6f last August as he went off 28/1. Was not disgraced when 2nd to Lustown Babba then on handicap debut off a mark of 88.

Lustown Babba was winning off 84 and ended the season rated 106, so Rough Diamond had an impossible task that day. He didn’t stay 7f on final start of last season and was very disappointing on his reappearance at Naas but was much better at Tipperary last time when a fast finishing 3rd.

The trip was too short. He was off it very early on but stuck at it and was rattling home. He’s crying out to go back up to 6f. Rough Diamond runs off 84 here which is 4lbs lower than his opening handicap mark and think this might have been a long term plan for last year’s winning yard.

17:10 Dewcup

I’ll give a mention to Ruby Walsh’s dad’s horse Dewcup in the last, I thought he was a little bit unlucky to get caught last time. He’s still unexposed as a handicapper on the Flat and I’ll be hoping he gets off the mark.
