The market may be informative about the newcomers but ASWAN sets a reasonable standard and is probably the one to beat, with Prosperous Voyage second choice after a pleasing debut at Doncaster.

It may pay to concentrate on the 3yos, and last week’s C&D winner AMALFI BAY is the pick of them. Our New Buddy was disappointing when favourite last time but she retains potential and may provide the sternest resistance, ahead of Haydock scorer Downsman. Topweight Cemhaan appeals the most of the older brigade.
19:50 Pure Bubbles
Thorn, Leroy Leroy and Gold Souk filled the first three positions over C&D two weeks ago and all could be involved again, with narrow preference for the first-named. But the 3yo PURE BUBBLES has had only one go in handicaps and it was a promising one. With further progress on the cards he can get off the mark.

The most solid option is recent C&D winner OTAGO, one of three runners for Jim Boyle, but it’s possible to construct a case for several others. Wake Up Harry (second choice) may improve after a gelding operation, while Prince Of Bel Lir should find this less taxing than the warm York sprint he contested last time.

Dropping back from 1m should suit GOSNAY GOLD and he’s fancied to provide his in-form yard with another winner. Ventura Vision and Mellys Flyer are in form and likely to be thereabouts but the biggest threat could come from Rainbow Sign who has more going for him than his uninspiring form figures might suggest.
