The William Haggas-trained BABINDI (nap) has run really well when runner-up the last twice and this 3yo is taken to get off the mark today. Bollin Margaret arrives on a hat-trick and is second choice ahead of Basilicata, who has the Chester positives of stall one and Franny Norton.

Rickenbacker and Bellport have shown promise but they don’t set a particularly high standard and it may be worth siding with the newcomer ADJUVANT, who is Michael Bell’s sole runner here tonight. Rickenbacker is second choice with the step up in trip a possible plus.

The 3yo NORTHERN EXPRESS failed to see out 1m on soft ground at York last time having again raced freely, and the first-time hood could help him settle better today. He can capitalise on the drop back in trip. Sir Benedict can also be headstrong but he’ll be suited by the expected strong pace in this big field and he is feared most on this second crack at 7f. Shawaamekh and Praxeology are effective here and are others to consider.
20:45 – Fairmac
Having gone clear before finishing second the last twice, this sharp track should suit FAIRMAC and he is the selection ahead of Qaasid, who could improve for this step up in trip. The progressive Corbulo is next on the list, but the others all won last time out so also have to be respected.
