15:50 – Schiele

Silver Surfer sets a decent standard although his form appears to have plateaued and he is now tried in blinkers and raised in trip. Heart To Heart flopped on her debut but could emerge a different filly on this much better ground, while both Jarvis and Laakhof showed enough on their respective debuts to suggest they could improve enough to have a say here. However, a chance is taken on the Joseph O’Brien newcomer SCHIELE, a speedily-bred son of Dark Angel who fetched a pretty packet as a yearling, the yard having won with a debutant juvenile at Leopardstown yesterday.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

16:25 – Gordon Bennett

Providing she handles this much quicker ground, recent C&D winner Cnodian could take some stopping but slight preference is for Navan winner GORDON BENNETT, who should appreciate the slightly longer trip and got away with only a 5lb rise for that success. Place claims are held by the Darren Bunyan-trained pair Brokers Tip and Fine Distraction.

16:55 – Fastnet Crown

A very open look to this handicap. Angel Palm will probably head the market, more on potential than proven form, but it could pay to take a chance on FASTNET CROWN, now dropped in trip after being caught late on at Cork. Plenty of dangers, notably Independent Missy, Midnight Fire and Dandy Spirit.

17:25 – Free Solo

A mixed bag of some underachievers and a couple of unexposed three-year-olds. The combination of trip and ground along with first-time cheekpieces could see FREE SOLO get back on track now dropped in grade. Koolasice has been defying long odds and could make a bold bid back in trip after being outpaced in a Group sprint yesterday, while Chief Little Hawk steps up in trip seeking redemption.

17:55 – So Near So Farhh

A tricky handicap puzzle to solve. Time And Money ought to go well again after improving for a step up in trip last time and New Society could be well handicapped if he transfers his recent hurdles form to the level. However, it might be worth taking a chance on SO NEAR SO FARHH who has been given a chance on her belated return to this sphere and she won’t mind conditions.

18:30 – Xeres

It’s easy to see why connections have reached for headgear on Malawi who looked the winner until the final 100 yards at Navan 12 days ago and similar could be said for XERES who travelled well into the same race before finding little. The latter is preferred with 1m4f on quicker ground both potential sources of improvement and he sets the standard in this race on the best of his 2yo form. Support for any of the well bred newcomers Acqua Di Gioia, Spring Street or Okita Soushi might be worth noting.

19:05 – Muntahez

Plenty of chances in the first division of this handicap but MUNTAHEZ has fairly obvious claims. He’s returned to form in recent runs and was caught too far back before running on when it was all over at Navan last time. Banjo might be able to build on his improved effort last time out and Ellaat might appreciate the step up in trip.

19:40 – Powerful Kieran

There was notable improvement from POWERFUL KIERAN (nap) on handicap debut last week having been left with plenty to do before staying on well for second and the step up in trip could yield further progress for the three-year-old. Ragtime Red can’t be discounted on fast ground from his reduced turf mark and Firstman gives the impression he will appreciate a return to 1m4f.
