We’re almost under starters orders with Royal Ascot less than a week away – and Paddy’s top traders have priced up antepost betting markets for the biggest races.
To whet the appetite, we’ve taken a look at the latest odds and favourites for the eight Group 1s over the five days of action.
The winner of last year’s St James’s Palace Stakes PALACE PIER (1/2) leads the antepost betting after an unbeaten start to the season in two appearances.
BATTAASH (15/8) is chasing a repeat victory after success in last year’s renewal. The seven-year-old is set to make his seasonal debut at the Berkshire course having been injured over the winter.
The last of the opening day’s Group 1s looks a wide-open affair thanks to the competitiveness of the three-year-old division. 2000 Guineas winner POETIC FLARE (3/1) heads the early betting from Mostahdaf (7/2).
The only Group 1 on the second day of the meeting has the defending champ LORD NORTH (7/4) battling for market supremacy with dual Classic-winning filly Love (9/4). Aidan O’Brien is also considering Armory (3/1) for a run in the 1m 2f contest.
The legendary STRADIVARIUS (EVS) is aiming to make it four wins on the trot in the Gold Cup. The seven-year-old’s hopes were dealt a boost when it was announced Ocean Wind would skip the festival for Glorious Goodwood.
2020 Queen Mary Stakes winner CAMPANELLE (4/1) leads the four horses available at single-digit prices in our antepost market for the first of Friday’s Group 1s. The 6f dash should prove an electric affair.
1000 Guineas winner MOTHER EARTH (3/1) is the favourite to score once again in her three-year-old campaign although the likes of Empress Josephine (7/2), Primo Bacio (4/1) and Pretty Gorgeous (6/1) are all prominent in the antepost betting.
The 6f contest open to four-year-olds and over looks like it’ll be an open contest but Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes winner STARMAN (5/2) is the antepost favourite to score again.
