Honeysuckle’s win in Friday’s Paddy Power Champion Hurdle not only pocketed punters a few quid, but it saved Paddy Power €100k as well.
And you can see his delight right here if you don’t believe me:

The punter’s pal put up a €100k bonus for any British trained horse who could come to Punchestown and win the Champion Hurdle.
The gauntlet was thrown down to the Brits after a thrilling jumps season was dominated by the Irish.
Irish trained horses won a record 23 of the 28 Cheltenham Festival races and the first five home in the Aintree Grand National were all from the Emerald Isle.
New to Paddy Power?
Epatante and Goshen took up the challenge, but they were no match for Henry De Bromhead’s supermare who led home an Irish 1-2 ahead of Sharjah.
It rounds off an amazing season for Honeysuckle who won the Irish Champion Hurdle, Cheltenham Champion Hurdle and Punchestown Champion Hurdle to remain undefeated in her career.
After the result – and an appropriately wild celebration – Paddy said: “Girls ruled the world on Ladies Day at Punchestown and the untouchable duo of Honeysuckle and Rachael Blackmore have not only finished the season in style – they’ve saved me €100k”
“The Brits cost me enough money with the Amazon postage fees so it’s nice to get one up on them and keep a few quid in my wallet for once.”
