Paddy Power has put his tipster hat on ahead of a packed weekend of racing in the UK and Ireland, specifically picking out his best bets ahead of meetings at Tipperary, Ascot and Newmarket.
Speaking on the latest episode of the twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, our main man even broke from tradition by backing a couple of selections that are not overwhelming favourites!
I was looking at this race and thinking to write off every horse that has had a long, hard season – including Albigna. That is probably a bit naive of me but nevermind.
I was going to tip up WILDS DREAMS, who’s only had the one run for Joseph O’Brien when finishing absolutely stuffed in the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown. Hopefully Joseph O’Brien will have got to know the horse a bit better after that and maybe started ramping up his season, rather than winding down his season like some of these others might be.
I’ve taken a total flier on something like that with pure guesswork rather than a solid form choice.
I like CHAMPERS ELYSEES, and I think this one is pretty obvious. He’s won on all types of ground and is four from four this year. Beat Peaceful by a length and a quarter last time out, and in the race comments for Peaceful it says ‘no match for the winner’. That might be the case once again, and I think it’s pretty straightforward for Champers Elysees. I’m not saying its a certainty, but he’s at an okay price.
I think Cape Byron will be hard to beat as the Ascot form is good and he loves the track. Instead I’m going to take a chance on the bigger-priced BRAD THE BRIEF for Tom Dascombe and Richard Kingscote.
I like the way this one battled last time out. He was headed but battled back at Newmarket against Summerghand and that battling quality may really stand well on the stiff Ascot finish.

2.25pm Tipperary – Wilds Dreams

2.30pm Ascot – Logician
This is as simple as picking the favourite. LOGICIAN has never been beaten and I can’t really see a reason why this will be the day that changes.
Mirando is the obvious one to chase him home.
2.45pm Newmarket – Champers Elysees
I like CHAMPERS ELYSEES, and I think this one is pretty obvious. He’s won on all types of ground and is four from four this year. 3.40pm Ascot – Brad The Brief
