Ya Boy Ya and Dakota Moirette look the pick of the bunch in this beginners’ chase with preference given to Colin Bowe’s runner.
His jumping was very good at Kilbeggan last time out over 2m 4f and he can dominate from the front and put Dakota Moirette’s jumping under pressure early on.
A maiden hurdle over 2m where Noel Meade’s Jeff Kidder looks sure to play a big part. He’s rated a little bit higher than Scholastic on the Flat and had a pretty good run at this venue when second to Longclaw on his hurdles debut, before returning to the level to score at Bellewstown.
He could make a pretty capable juvenile hurdler and may be a bit of value against the likely favourite Scholastic.
This looks a decent contest where another Noel Meade runner, Beacon Edge, sets the standard.
I was quite disappointed when Dewcup finished second on the level to Barrington Court, but Jessica Harrington’s runner has franked that form by finishing close up in two competitive events since.
The Ted Walsh-trained Dewcup though was a very easy nine length winner of a maiden hurdle at this venue earlier this month and could take high rank among the novice hurdlers this jumps season.
The father and son team of Ger and Colin Keane had a winner at the Curragh on Sunday and saddle Treble Cone in this one-mile contest. He was quiet earlier in the season, but put in a nice performance when heavily backed at Navan earlier this season and has been fitted with a visor to sharpen him up a bit and the long straight at Cork is expected to help.
Colin is chasing hard to retain his Irish champion jockey’s title and this could be another winner towards that goal.
