Newmarket tips: Ruby Walsh picks 4 to score on the final day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting

Ruby has given his tips for Newmarket this afternoon.

Ruby Walsh

Ruby Walsh has revealed his best bets for a packed afternoon of action on Cambridgeshire Day at Newmarket.

Speaking on the latest episode of Paddy Power’s twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, Ruby has picked out four he thinks have a chance of scoring – including a surprise selection.

1.50pm – Gear Up

I think this is very open and Cohb is a worthy favourite for Clive Cox. There are only five runners, but maybe Pleasant Man is the only one you couldn’t fancy. I think GEAR UP for Mark Johnson with Franny Norton on board. Two from two, with both wins at York and over seven furlongs. I think he’s the one for me.

2.25pm – Miss Amulet

I’m hoping, more than I know, but I’m hoping MISS AMULET can win for Ken Condon. I don’t see why she won’t uphold the form with Sacred from York, so I’m hoping she can win. I know Dandalla has been very good in all her starts for Karl Burke and Ben Curtis, and I suppose if Santosha wins on Friday that will definitely boost Dandalla’s form, but I’m with Miss Amulet.

I thought Frenetic looked very fast and if Miss Amulet could beat her over five furlongs in Naas, and she won over six in York, I’m hoping she can win here.

3.00pm – Lucky Vega

Frank Hickey has made the case for LUCKY VEGA, and all I have to do is agree. I completely agree with him – he has the strongest form and he’s the best price.

3.35pm – Ilaraab

I’m tipping ILARAAB, simply because I was listening to William Haggas on the From The Horse’s Mouth podcast on Monday! I’m not going to pretend to be a student of the form like Frank is on mile and one furlong handicappers in the UK, but I was listening to William Haggas.

Of all the runners he has in the race, and he has Sinjaari the second-favourite, it was Ilaraab wanted to run. Ilaraab was the only one he wanted to talk about. He obviously has Montatham as well but it was all Ilaraab, so he will do me.
