Four of the best at Yarmouth on Wednesday.

14:00 Queen of Burgundy

Norfolk-based trainer Christine Dunnett has more winners at Yarmouth than anywhere else and Queen of Burgundy looks interesting in this one. She’s been shaping a bit and is ready to win again after a few starts. Silvestre De Sousa is booked this time and that suggests she’s going to be a pretty serious contender.

This pairing have won around here together just over a year ago off a mark of 76 in a handicap and she’s down to 72 now but, just from a handicap point of view, she’s attractive I think.

15:10 Festive Star

This looks like a good race and this one usually is. It’s a big field and several of the top yards are represented multiple times. However, I’m going to look elsewhere and go for Festive Star who has already won at this level in Italy last year.

Festive Star could only finish 4th at Longchamp last time out but that was her first time racing over a mile. They’re down to 10 furlongs this time and it’s a horse that’s bred to appreciate this kind of trip.

It’s a competitive race and you could make cases for several of them but Festive Star might be forgotten about in the market on the basis that she got beat last time. The yard’s in red-hot form and I’d be quite happy taking a punt on Festive Star.

16:20 Via Serendipity

The most interesting horse in the race is Global Hero. We last saw him back in 2018 as a juvenile and there’s obviously been a few problems and we’re guessing how fit that one will be.

I prefer Via Serendipity who is the oldest horse in the race and will be conceding weight to everything but you can make a pretty strong form case for it.

It’s not always the most reliable. You look at the form figures and it’s normally 1 or a higher figure but one of those 1s was two starts ago at Ascot off a career-low mark of 83. It’s gone back up to 96 and didn’t run that well last time, but I’m going to forgive that performance.

If you go back a couple of years this thing was winning off much higher marks for Stuart Williams so you could make a case it’s still pretty well treated and I think this one could, possibly, outclass his rivals in this race.

17:20 Many A Star

Just six runners in this but a couple of interesting ones. Juan Les Pins is a recent runner on the all-weather at Kempton. It’s a different scenario here of course, going onto turf.

I’m actually going to go for a different horse, I’m on Many A Star. She was pretty eye-catching at York last time when she finished a close second. I’m not sure what the handicapper has done but it’ll be able to run off its old weight here so it’ll be well in at Yarmouth.

It’s a really strapping sort and I just think this one’s a really solid option. We’ve got Festive Star in and earlier race and Many A Star in this race, so I’m hoping the stars are all aligned at Yarmouth on Wednesday afternoon!
