The Irish form of MINELLA ENCORE entitles him to win this as he pleases although he is an 8yo still searching for a first success over hurdles and good ground is an unknown. Should he not come up to scratch, promising pointer Velasco heads the list of those waiting to take advantage.

A cracking novices’ chase for the time of year. Winter Getaway did well over hurdles last season but promises to be even better over fences and has to be respected receiving plenty of weight. However, she faces three previous chasing winners in Longhouse Sale, Ballyhome and THE BUTCHER SAID and narrow preference is for Olly Murphy’s 7yo, who was just about the best of these over hurdles and won easily from one other finisher on his chasing debut. He can pass this stiffer test.
15:35 Ask Paddington
A competitive race and the obvious starting point is the unexposed Presence Of Mind. He could well be nicely treated on this handicap debut but he is low on experience and is likely to go off at a short price so better value may be obtained in supporting ASK PADDINGTON, who has been hit by a 12lb rise for winning in good style on his debut for Tristan Davidson but may have more to offer. Elysees has possibilities on his first start for Fergal O’Brien, while Storm Goddess was in good form when last seen and has to be considered.
16:10 Sirobbie (NAP)
The handicapper must be wishing he could alter SIROBBIE (nap)’s mark after his effort here in July but his hands are tied, which leaves this progressive 6yo looking very well treated. Kings Temptation is in top form and is next best.
16:45 Tricky Customer
It is interesting that connections have decided to persevere with Gettysburg Address, who has evidently had his share of problems. He is worth a market check on this return to action but TRICKY CUSTOMER has good recent chasing form to his name and promises to be suited by this step back up in distance. Vinnie The Hoddie may fare best of the rest.
17:15 Innerpickle
Top weights Mustang Alpha and Neville’s Cross should be suited to this stamina test but the same can also be said of INNERPICKLE, who took a step forward when runner-up over 2m4f here last time and promises to relish this longer trip. Holme Abbey, Hello Fellas and Mind Your Back are others to consider.
