13:50 York – Beringer
Alan King’s BERINGER put up a career best performance last time when second at Pontefract and could arguably be called a little unlucky as he was short of room just as the pace increased.
He goes head-to-head with the winner on that occasion Dark Vision again and the extra yardage today looks to suit Beringer slightly better here.
14:25 York – Bodyline
BODYLINE has been a big improver in three starts this season and was faced with an impossible task from way out of his ground at Royal Ascot two starts back.
He did incredibly well to be closing behind a very decent winner Hukum who is gone on and won again since. Bodyline has been gelded since we last saw him, which can get him to focus and being upped in distance looks to be the right move.
15:00 York – One Master
ONE MASTER is an absolute long sprint, 7-furlong specialist and has been successful on a few occasions up in Group 1 company to date.
She came down the ladder to win the Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood in fantastic fashion when short of room and showing a tremendous change of gear to get up late on. She is the class in here.
15:40 York – Verdana Blue
VERDANA BLUE is rated 160 over hurdles and she looks to be on a very lenient Flat mark of just 102 in the Ebor Handicap.
The normal rule of thumb when handicapping from jumpers to the Flat code is to take off 45lb. When you do that (160-45=115), you see how well treated she looks in this off 102. She has definitely been trained for this prize and her master handler Nicky Henderson can be rewarded by hitting the target in the big one.
16:10 York – Lauded
LAUDED can get back to the winner’s enclosure in this lesser contest after dodging the Gimcrack Stakes yesterday.
His easy win at Haydock was followed by a mid-division effort in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and then he got right back to form at Goodwood, chasing a strong pace over further.
A return to this fast five furlongs looks absolutely ideal.
14:05 Sandown – New Chapter
NEW CHAPTER has got better with each of his starts, as he looked green on the first two occasions when the taps were turned on, but finished his races off nicely.
A confidence-boosting win in cosy fashion at Ayr last time, he now starts handicapping off what looks a very decent mark of just 79.
14:40 Sandown – Dolphin Vista
DOLPHIN VISTA hasn’t won for a little time and for that reason has been dropping like a stone in the handicap ratings.
These are his perfect conditions, a strongly run mile on very soft ground and he’s also been gifted an inside stall position. He’s looks a decent each-way proposition. The jockey will be very keen to make up for lost time having been off with an injury.
15:15 Sandown – Matthew Flinders
MATTHEW FLINDERS looks really good when winning at Doncaster and just seemed to fluff his lines a little when beaten last time at York. He was very keen over that 1m 2f contest.
Back down in distance with Louis Steward taking over in the saddle, could see him settle a little better and show his true colours. It was strong form last time behind Roberto Escobar and he has been raised 3lb for it.
15:55 Sandown – Queen Course
QUEEN COURSE scorched away for an impressive victory at Doncaster in a big 16-runner field last time.
She is only having her fourth start for this stable here and can continue on an upward curve, despite a fairly hefty hike in the handicap.
A good jockey like Kieran Shoemark can overcome a bad draw, as she has been posted a little wide on the track. Thankfully she faces a bunch of mainly out-of-form rivals now.
