Image of the Moon looks in top form at present, following up a creditable fourth at Newbury with an excellent second at Newmarket that was arguably a career-best effort.
Image of the Moon impressed with how smoothly she travelled at Newmarket and she held every chance from a furlong out, but she was unable to overhaul a less-exposed rival. She has gone up 1 lb – so she is now 1 lb higher than her last winning mark – but she looks well treated and another bold bid is on the cards.
Wade’s Magic remains a maiden but he was only narrowly denied at Beverley last week and holds obvious claims here off the same mark.
He hadn’t beaten a rival home on his first two starts of the season, but, dropping into 0-55 company after falling in the weights, he bounced back at Beverley, leading inside the final furlong and only overhauled close home by an in-form rival who was completing the hat-trick.
He looks to have a good chance of opening his account here under Silvestre de Sousa, who is a positive jockey booking.
Quaint has finished placed on her last couple of starts and there is good reason to expect another bold bid. She ran poorly on her reappearance at Windsor but shaped with much more promise over five furlongs at Haydock, despite getting outpaced and shaping as if she would be better off over further.
She ran to a similar level when upped to six furlongs at Lingfield, but offered the prospect of better to come under more favourable circumstances as a bump at the start put her on the back foot and she was unable to throw down a meaningful challenge to a couple of rivals who had the run of things. She remains capable of better and is on a fair mark.
