Mick Fitzgerald stepped in to Ruby Walsh’s gargantuan shoes on this week’s From The Horse’s Mouth podcast as the legend took a well-earned rest. The ITV Racing and Paddy Power man knows his onions, though, and he debated Saturday’s 14:40 at Haydock on the pod with Paddy as both gave a tip for the race.
Sky Sports Racing’s French expert Laurent Barbarin also joined the lads on this week’s show, to discuss the Prix Maurice de Gheest. You can listen to Mick, Paddy, Laurent and our tipping guru Frank Hickey in full below.

Paddy Power: Global Giant
Global Giant’s a good thing, I think. Zaaki was well beaten in Group 3 and Group 2 [races recently]. Extra Exclusive was well held behind Global Giant last time. If you want one each way at a big price it would be the John Smith’s Cup second at 66/1, Certain Lad. He’s not 66/1 tomorrow but maybe him for an each way. But, there’s only 7 runners so Global Giant is a good thing.
Mick Fitzgerald: Zaaki
I’m going for Ryan Moore to upset the party here with Zaaki. This horse ran behind Mohaather last time at Ascot and I just think he’s a horse who probably takes a couple of runs to get into top gear and It’s interesting that Ryan is up there. He rides a few horses for Sir Michael Stoute at Haydock on Saturday. Zaaki will do for me.
