Goodwood Tips: From The Horse’s Mouth’s best bets for Glorious Goodwood on Friday

It’s be a long week but the lads are still going strong and today all eyes are on Battaash.

Paddy Power and Ruby Walsh joined our Director Of Racing Paddy Desmond on a special From The Horse’s Mouth podcast to preview the bumper week of racing that we’ve enjoyed so far at Glorious Goodwood and the Summer Festival at Galway Races.

And, with Friday upon us, let’s take a look at our trio’s tempting best bets for Friday at Goodwood.

13:45 at Goodwood

Paddy Desmond: One Master

I just think One Master is solid. He’s a 7 furlong specialist and won the Prix de la Foret the last two years which is a good deal better than this type of standard. So, yeah, One Master for William Haggas again.

Ruby Walsh: Valeria Messalina

Valeria Messalina didn’t get the trip in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, dropped back to 7 on her last start at Cork and won.

Paddy Power: Althiqa

I went for Althiqa, just think it looks like an improving one. Won at listed level in France last time and the step up in grade it might be capable at the odds.

Paddy Desmond: Khaloosy (NAP)

This could cut up a bit. Obviously, we’re not sure if the 18 horses will run but I think Khaloosy is one of my strongest bets of the whole week. Just looks a Group 1 horse and at the time of recording there was 2/1 knocking about. I think it’ll be odds-on on the day.

Paddy Power: Khaloosy

I went for the favourite Khaloosy. Was it the Britannia where he absolutely hosed it and won by four lengths? He’s obviously well capable of the step up into Group class.

Paddy Desmond:  Baattash, Liberty Reach (e/w)

Battaash can obviously throw in the odd wobbler but rarely does it at Goodwood. His form at Goodwood, it seems to be the one place he always seems to be consistent. Battaash should win but I thought if you wanted to have an each way bet with the three places I think Liberty Beach is the most likely one to chase him home.

Ruby Walsh: Battaash

Battash. After ‘naying’ him all year I’m ‘yaying’ him now.

Paddy Power: Battaash, Glass Slippers (e/w)

Battaash is very difficult to beat. Glass Slippers each way for me but Battash to win.
