Horse Racing tips: Mick Fitzgerald’s Saturday Lucky 31 to get the job done on ITV Racing

Mick's hoping these 5 thrive on a soft-ground Saturday.

There’s a TV bonanza on Saturday from Ascot and Newmarket and with the going now soft, I’ll go with one who may be better suited by the ground conditions.

Newmarket 13.50

Finest Sound bumped into Khaloosy in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot when a four-length second, but had previously bolted up at Haydock. He has a big chance but Haqeegy’s should have no problem with soft ground as his sire Lope De Vega’s stock are proven on it.

HAQEEGY has won his last two and can bring the hat-trick up.

Newmarket 14.25

SPRING OF LOVE was an easy winner of her maiden at Newmarket with some smart fillies easily brushed aside that day. She only beat one home at Haydock last time but sometimes you have to forgive one  poor run and I’m willing to give this one another chance. Connections put a hood on her now and I’m hoping that will have the desired effect. Nasayim could also run well at a price.

Newmarket 15:00

Aidan O’Brien has won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes before and it’s interesting that he targets Hudson River at this after the son of  Galileo won nicely at the Curragh. John Gosden is to be feared and despite Seventh Kingdom running free last time, he scored handsomely. Dual Haydock winner Devious Company is feared but HUDSON RIVER can win it.

Palace Pier wins at Royal Ascot

Ascot 15.15

Mohaather got no run in the Queen Anne Stakes where they crawled early on. I am not convinced he is an out-and-out stayer, but may well get away with it. LORD GLITTERS is the each-way play as he loves this track. With some juice in the ground also, he should out-tun his odds.

Newmarket 15:35 The July Cup

Golden Horde obliged for us in the Commonwealth Cup and his trainer Clive Cox has won the July Cup twice before with Lethal Force & Harry Angel, so knows what is required. I see no reason why Golden Horde will not add to that tally as  he was by far the best of these at the Royal meeting.

Hello Youmzain just edged out Irish challenger Sceptical at Royal Ascot and Frankie Dettori felt he would have won if he knew Sceptical better. Hello Youmzain rallied really well then and crucially handles soft ground. GOLDEN HORDE to win though.
