Matt Chapman: There’s nothing Shady about this 10/1 chance on Friday

The curtain comes down on the Roodee but Matt's planning to go out with a bang...

The final day of the Chester May meeting is on ITV4 Friday and there’s another four races on the network to try and sort out.
Let’s get straight to it, and the 1.50pm is an extended 7f handicap. I have a feeling SHADY MCCOY is a great each-way bet here. They are going to go very hard indeed with a huge field and pace out wide, and the old boy can sit off it for trainer Ian Williams and pounce late!

It may be a rise in class for the former Lincoln winner, but I’m all over ADDEYBB in the Group 2 Huxley Stakes over an extended 1m 2f at 2.25pm. James Doyle’s mount will enjoy the step up in distance to 10f and the going is ideal for the William Haggas-trained runner.

In a race of front runners he can just sit behind the speed and use his class late.

The 3.00pm at Chester is a handicap over and extended 1m 2f. DUKHAN ran poorly when last seen at Pontefract for Hugo Palmer, but he’s better than that and could do well off his current rating. Hopefully, another for Doyle. An each-way wager.

And finally it’s the big betting handicap of the week, the Chester Cup, over an extended 2m 2f at 3.35pm. Willie Mullins sends WHISKEY SOUR over from Ireland. He’s well drawn and is just the type of horse to relish this test.

He has a decent turn of foot over hurdles and will get the trip.

Should travel well for Andrea Atzeni.
