Traders’ Selections: Here’s who we’re liking the look of today at Ascot and Haydock

Straight and to the point, here's what we fancy.....

The Shergar Cup at Ascot takes centre stage today and while it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, we are an opinionated old bunch so here’s what we like the look of – with a bonus race thrown in from the Rose Lancaster Stakes over at Haydock:

13.05

There looks to be plenty of pace in this Dash, which could well suit the closers, so we like the chances of Sir Robert Cheval who was second in this outing last year off a similar mark and at 7’s we think the value is with him.

13.40

Not many in here are in form here so we like the claims of Cleonte who was unlucky in his last time out at Newbury amongst a better field, losing to Willie Mullins’ Stratum.

14.15

Nicholas T is untested at this 1m 4f trip but is bred to appreciate it and looks to be on a fair mark here at 101. He would look to make each way appeal at 8’s.

16.00

Shaheen won in terrific fashion at Windsor on Monday and only carries a three pound penalty for that here. The manner in which he quickened that day marked him down as a really talented sprinter going places and he looks like he will be tough to beat here, particularly as his trainer, John Quinn, is in great form also.

Haydock – 13.05

Haydock hosts the best race of the day with the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at 13.05 and we think Zaaki will take all the beating here. Enough said!
