17:05 – Maiden Hurdle
Squadron Commander won the bumper in Cork and then has been very disappointing in the two bumpers since. He seems to be in good form at home and he was ready to run in the point-to-point before we bought him. Hopefully the drop down in grade and step up in trip should suit him. But his last two runs have been very disappointing.
17:40 – Sliabh Luachra Hurdle
Voix du Reve has been running well, his run in the Coral Cup was really good, he ran okay in a handicap at Punchestown. It’s a long time since he won a race, but this looks to me like an opportunity for him.

Didero Vallis and Hey Little Boy have both won maiden hurdles early last Autumn, and they haven’t really progressed from there. With David Mullins riding Hey Little Boy it might be worth favouring him here, and with drying ground as well, he might be the one. They are what they are.
18:40 – Mares Maiden Hurdle
Sapphire Lady is in good order at home, she’s come on well. With any normal luck she can win here, she’s been consistent, and she’s run better than her finishing position would suggest in some races. She could get rewarded here.
19:10 – An Riocht Chase
Defintiely going left-handed will suit American Tom here. He has been a bit disappointing so far but, again, better ground and the tight track might suit him. Shaneshill ran a blinder in Punchestown and a reproduction of his run in the Galway Plate would make him hard to beat. Ballyoisin would look the danger of the others in this race.
19:40 – Killarney National Handicap Chase
My preference of the two dour stayers in this race would be for Some Neck over Augustin, as he beat Up For Review in a beginners chase previously. He made a few fiddly mistakes in Punchestown which ultimately did for him, but with the run in the handicap under his belt I’d go for him at 4/1 over Augustin here.
20:10 Killarney Hunters Chase
Willie doesn’t have anything in this, but it’s great to see to Foxrock and On The Fringe going head-to-head. These are two fair horses for this time of year. Patrick Mullins rides On The Fringe with Nina Carberry retired, and Foxrock hasn’t lived up to the heights he reached last year.
Best Bets from Killarney
Sapphire Lady in the Mares Hurdle will be hard to beat. Next best would be Shaneshill in the 19:10 Chase. You could put them in a 12/1 double if you like. Voix de Reve is also worth a look in the 17:40.
