Will there be a royal winner at Ascot this week?

King Charles III at Royal Ascot

Charlie may not quite share the same passion for horses as his late mother, but there will still be some royal runners at Royal Ascot 2023.

The royal procession that takes place every day before racing will, undoubtedly, be an emotional occasion because this will be the first Royal Ascot since Queen Elizabeth II’s passing last September.

The late British monarch presided over a massive racing operation and celebrated 24 Royal Ascot winners as an owner including 2013 Gold Cup scorer Estimate.

After her death, the reins were handed over to King Charles III and the ownership is now under the title of HM The King & HM The Queen as queen consort, Camilla, has an interest in nags.

The King and Queen’s Flat horses are running at an 11 per cent strike rate for the last 14 days and they are set to field some of their stable stars at the five-day festival.
