Another Cheltenham Festival means another lucky punter giving us a spanking and it was no different this year as a bettor turned a £10 acca, placed last November, into a stunning €54k.
Our winner – who hails from Galway – placed their stake on five selections at Cheltenham this week and then sat back and watched as the 5450/1 drama unfolded.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
He backed Honeysuckle in the Champion Hurdle (at 7/4 in November, won at 8/11), Energumene in the Champion Chase (4/1 in November, won at 5/2), Allaho in the Ryanair Chase (7/2 in November, won at 4/7) and Flooring Porter in the Paddy Power Stayers Hurdle (10/1 in November, won at 4/1).
And with his first four horses bolting up, that left all of his attention on the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday afternoon.
Our punter backed A Plus Tard at 7/1 in November, with the Henry De Bromhead runner going off at 3/1. He was desperate for Rachael Blackmore to deliver once again.
Of course, she didn’t let our punter down. A Plus Tard took the lead at the last and bolted up the hill to leave De Bromhead’s other runner Minella Indo behind, winning by 15l.

Speaking to Paddy Power, the Galway man, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I couldn’t believe it really. Rachael Blackmore is just unreal. I watched it somewhere else because my internet wouldn’t be great. But I was never in any doubt.
“I honestly didn’t think it would come down to this (the Gold Cup result). Shishkin was the main man in Queen Mother Champion Chase, obviously, so when Energumene won, I couldn’t believe it.
“Obviously, I had to back Flooring Porter, being a Galway horse. I just said I’d go for it and do the accumulator, so I stuck the €10 on.
“I wouldn’t normally back horses. I’d only have the odd flutter. But Cheltenham is Cheltenham.
“This is the kind of thing you only ever read about. It’s unbelievable!”
