Trainer Henry de Bromhead has reported the Cheveley Park-owned horse is “fit and well” after bouncing back to winning ways in a Grade 2 chase at Down Royal on his seasonal reappearance in October.
Envoi Allen is set to be joined at Punchestown by stablemate Minella Times, who won the Aintree Grand National in April. The yard could have a third runner as Fortria Chase winner Notebook also holds an entry.
Fakir D’Oudairies is rated as the principal threat to Envoi Allen by our traders, although the weather and entries for the big Christmas races could threaten his participation.
Willie Mullins has seven wins as a trainer in the John Durkan Chase, including the last three renewals with the since retired Min. The Closutton handler boasts an incredible nine entries for this year’s contest.
Allaho appears to be the yard’s leading contender and assistant trainer Patrick Mullins believes the “race would look made” for the Ryanair Chase hero.
Asterion Forlonge, a course-and-distance winner, is also prominent in our early betting along with Al Boum Photo, despite the 2m 4½f trip being on the short side for the dual Cheltenham Gold Cup scorer.
Franco De Port, Janidil, Kemboy and Melon also hold entries for Mullins as does Chacun Pour Soi, although the prolific Grade 1 winner is expected to run in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on Saturday.
Gordon Elliott has three to choose from in Battleoverdoyen, Hardline and Samcro. Ex Patriot completes the 17-strong entry list and is, by some margin, the lowest-rated horse.
