The 2021 edition of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday October 3 promises to be a blockbuster to cap off a hugely enjoyable year of Flat racing with the likes of Tarnawa, Adayar, Snowfall, Hurricane Lane and Love all set to run. One of them will emerge as the best middle-distance horse of the campaign.

But when do the runners and riders go to post at Longchamp Racecourse in Paris? That’s a great question because, trust us, you don’t want to miss a second of the 1m 4f contest.

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2021 is scheduled to start at 4.05pm local time which translates to 3.05pm for British and Irish viewers due to the French being one hour ahead.

Paddy’s top traders have been busy pricing up the betting market for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2021 and Tarnawa just has the edge on Adayar at the time of writing.

Dermot Weld’s mare marked herself down as a serious contender after an impressive course and distance win in the Prix de l’Opera last season. Her subsequent Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf win over Magical marked her down as a serious contender for Europe’s richest prize this season and a narrow defeat to St Mark’s Basilica in the 1m 2f Irish Champion Stakes did nothing to dim that view. Christophe Soumillon regains the ride and she looks the one to beat.

William Buick will ride Adayar, this year’s Epsom Derby and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner. He pulled very hard at Ascot and will need to curb that tendency to make sure he has enough petrol in the tank for the finishing kick at Longchamp but on his summer form is a leading player.

A total of 15 horses are set to run after Adayar and Snowfall were supplemented at a cost of €120,000 each while Teona withdrew at final declarations on Thursday.
