I’m going for Snow Lantern right at the very bottom of the field. This one was second behind Zabeel Queen on its only start. Zabeel Queen, of course, was 5th behind Pretty Gorgeous in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket at the back end of last season. But I’m hearing rumours for Snow Lantern and that’s where my money’s going.
King D’argent for the Skeltons is in flying form and will be the favourite, but I’m going to go for Return Ticket for Brian Hughes riding for Rebecca Menzies. He won at Sedgefield on his last start back in March over 2m3f. I just think some of the southern horses can be an afterthought at some of the Scottish meetings so I’m going to go for Return Ticket.
I’m going to do for Deja who won last year’s Old Newton Cup at Haydock Park off a rating of 105. Up to 112 now for Peter Chapple-Hyam and Ryan Moore. I’m going for Deja.
I had a long look at this and came down on the side of a long shot and The Bucher Said. I was looking back through it thinking, somewhere in there is the form to win this race and there is. You might have to go back a bit to find it but I think The Butcher Said has the ability and he likes a bit of good ground.
I’m going to go for Isabella Giles who made a winning debut at Leicester last year over 6f and followed up at Newbury before disappointing at Ascot. Was then stepped up to 7f and won twice at Goodwood and Newmarket on the Rowley Mile. On its 6th run of the season it disappointed behind Pretty Gorgeous in the Autumn Mile but I’m going for Isabella Giles for Adam Kirby and Clive Cox.
I actually think Tamaroc Du Mathan won’t be out of his comfort zone and I’m going to go for him to take on the likely odds-on favourite Allmankind. Tamaroc Du Mathan for me.
I’m going to go for Nugget for Richard Hannon and Ryan Moore. It had a run at Nottingham on the 7th of April behind Astro King. Should have improved for that run and Ryan Moore did win on this horse last year at Newmarket back in July.
I’m going for Aye Right. I’ve been with him all year. I was with him in the Ladbrokes Trophy, I thought he ran really well in the Sky Bet at Doncaster, he ran well again in the Ultima. He’s only up 8lbs for all his good work this season and I think this is the weakest of all the contests he’s been in. I know Vintage Clouds beat him at Cheltenham, but I like Aye Right. The second that day, Happygolucky, has also won since.

13:00 at Newbury – Snow Lantern
I’m going for Snow Lantern right at the very bottom of the field. This one was second behind Zabeel Queen on its only start. Zabeel Queen, of course, was 5th behind Pretty Gorgeous in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket at the back end of last season. But I’m hearing rumours for Snow Lantern and that’s where my money’s going.
13:15 at Ayr – Return Ticket
King D’argent for the Skeltons is in flying form and will be the favourite, but I’m going to go for Return Ticket for Brian Hughes riding for Rebecca Menzies. He won at Sedgefield on his last start back in March over 2m3f. I just think some of the southern horses can be an afterthought at some of the Scottish meetings so I’m going to go for Return Ticket.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
13:35 at Newbury – Deja
I’m going to do for Deja who won last year’s Old Newton Cup at Haydock Park off a rating of 105. Up to 112 now for Peter Chapple-Hyam and Ryan Moore. I’m going for Deja.
13:50 at Ayr – The Butcher Said
I had a long look at this and came down on the side of a long shot and The Bucher Said. I was looking back through it thinking, somewhere in there is the form to win this race and there is. You might have to go back a bit to find it but I think The Butcher Said has the ability and he likes a bit of good ground.
14:10 at Newbury – Isabella Giles
I’m going to go for Isabella Giles who made a winning debut at Leicester last year over 6f and followed up at Newbury before disappointing at Ascot. Was then stepped up to 7f and won twice at Goodwood and Newmarket on the Rowley Mile. On its 6th run of the season it disappointed behind Pretty Gorgeous in the Autumn Mile but I’m going for Isabella Giles for Adam Kirby and Clive Cox.
14:25 at Ayr – Milkwood
I’m on Milkwood. I thought Milkwood was probably in front plenty soon in the County Hurdle and I think the flat track at Ayr will really suit him.
14:45 at Newbury – Chindit
I’m going with Chindit. Richard Hannon was raving about this horse last year. He flopped in the Dewhurst, but it’s Chindit for me.
DON’T MISS
15:00 at Ayr – Tamaroc Du Mathan
I actually think Tamaroc Du Mathan won’t be out of his comfort zone and I’m going to go for him to take on the likely odds-on favourite Allmankind. Tamaroc Du Mathan for me.
15:20 at Newbury – Nugget
I’m going to go for Nugget for Richard Hannon and Ryan Moore. It had a run at Nottingham on the 7th of April behind Astro King. Should have improved for that run and Ryan Moore did win on this horse last year at Newmarket back in July.
15:35 at Ayr – Aye Right
I’m going for Aye Right. I’ve been with him all year. I was with him in the Ladbrokes Trophy, I thought he ran really well in the Sky Bet at Doncaster, he ran well again in the Ultima.
