Bold Plan is the one I’m going to go for here. He comes into this race off a decent-enough win over the The Big Breakaway. It probably wasn’t his best run, The Big Breakaway. I still think Bold Plan is looking well treated off a mark of 138 in these sorts of races where it can turn into a sprint late on.
There’s not much pace here and only seven runners. He’s going to be raced here somewhat quietly and he’ll be in mid-division, but he improved into his races, especially when they don’t go too hard up front. That said, I don’t think stamina’s going to let him down either.
He won over course and distance here before so that will be fine. He gets on well with jockey Sean Bowen as well. He’s giving weight away but that’s for a reason. I think he’s much better than a 138 horse and hopefully he’s going to start showing that.
Remastered is the one I’m going for here. There’s a lot of potential in these six runners and you could make a case for any of them. It’s such a tight race but Remastered makes most appeal.
He’s got the lowest rating of any of these going into this, he’s only 138 rated but he just strikes me as a horse who’s improving a lot going over fences. He’s had two goes over fences and is unbeaten in both of those races.
They’ve changed tactics with Remastered over fences and I like that. They used to ride him in behind, he was a hold up horse, but they’ve changed it and he’s front-running over fences and he loves it.
He could just be a tricky ride but there’s something about the way he’s going over fences that tells me there’s so much left in the tank and a little bit more to come.

This is going to be another attritional race at Haydock. Lord Du Mesnil always goes well, Perfect Candidate, too. Sojourn has gone well in the past as well. But I think Ramses De Teillee is a complete dour stayer, he’ll love it at Haydock.
He was poor in the Welsh National which might throw you off, but I think he’s more than capable of bouncing back from that. He was runner up in this race off a 3lb lower mark two years ago. David Pipe is now going really well after a really quiet patch.
This sort of test just suit him down to the ground. Fergus Gillard is claiming 5lbs as well which is going to help, so I think he’s going to be really capable of running well here. If it’s open he should be there or thereabouts.
