Delph Crescent is yet to run on the fibresand at Southwell, but he rates the type of horse that should go well at this venue, particularly in a three-runner race. His tendency to lead or race prominently will stand him in good stead at this course, which often favours front runners, and the level of his form is better than his two rivals. Furthermore, he arrives in good form having finished third over this trip at Kempton last time, and with Wrath of Hector his only real threat for the lead, Delph Crescent could prove a tough nut to peg back.

17:30 Requinto Dawn (NB)

This looks competitive enough for a five-runner race, but Requinto Dawn is arguably in the form of his life at present and he is fancied to record another win at this venue. He was relatively easy to back and didn’t have an obvious chance, but that didn’t stop him recording his third win from his last five starts over this course and distance last time, staying on well in the closing stages and suggesting he had more in the locker. Requinto Dawn isn’t obviously well treated turned out under a 5 lb penalty, but he arrives at the top of his game, and remains relatively unexposed on this surface.

19:30 Momentum Swing (E/W)

Momentum Swing hasn’t set the world alight in three starts so far, but there is reason to think he can do better now handicapping for a yard that do well with sprinters. He ran his best race to date over this course and distance on his fibresand debut last time, weakening into third inside the final furlong. That form has taken a boost as the winner has gone in again since, and that was Momentum Swing’s first run since undergoing a breathing operation, so he could have more to offer now handicapping from a lowly mark.
