The one I like in this contest is CAPPACURRY ZAK, who is a four-time winner at the Limerick course. All four of those wins came on heavy ground, so the current conditions and the track should be no problem to him.
He showed enough over hurdles last time out at the start of the month to suggest he’s far from finished yet. His regular rider Ryan Treacy takes the mount here and I believe he’ll run his usual solid race around a course he clearly loves.
It’s hard to get away from the top weight FORRARD AWAY (NAP) for trainer Jim Dreaper and jockey Keith Donoghue. He looked like winning last time out at Fairyhouse a few weeks ago, but he was ran down late on and finished third on that occasion.
However, that was only his third run in a handicap, and I’d expect plenty more to come from him. He’s be raised 2lbs for that outing. But, with the trip and ground in his favour, he was a winner on heavy ground over 2m at Wexford earlier in the year and conditions are to his liking here again. I reckon he can make amends for that run at Fairyhouse last time here and he’ll take plenty of beating, even if he has to give weight to the whole field.
