12:40 – Oleg

OLEG did well on the Flat during the summer, winning handicaps at Southwell and Pontefract before running creditably when mid-division in a competitive event at Goodwood. Oleg, who won on his first start over fences at Wincanton last season, returned to chasing at Perth in September and was in the process of running well, looking sure to be placed, when falling three from home. He remains lightly raced and has more to offer in this sphere so can get back on track here for the in-form Paul Nicholls.

13:15 – Flic Ou Voyou

FILIC OU VOYOU failed to win over hurdles last season, but he showed some useful form, including when third in this race behind two talented rivals in Edwardstone and Fiddlerontheroof. Flic Ou Voyou failed to take advantage of some decent opportunities later in the campaign, but he made no mistake on his return at Chepstow last month, looking a potentially different proposition after undergoing a second breathing operation. He had no problem following up under a penalty at Newton Abbot just two days later and sets a fair standard for his rivals to aim at.

13:50 – It’s Probably Me

Bumper winner IT’S PROBABLY ME got no further than the first flight on her debut over hurdles at Haydock last year, but she ran with promise when third in a listed novice at Taunton on her next outing. Molly Ollys Wishes had too many gears for her in a slowly-run race at Warwick but It’s Probably Me readily turned the tables at Doncaster, needing only a hands-and-heels ride to assert and score by three and a quarter lengths. The handicapper looks to have underestimated It’s Probably Me by giving her an opening mark of 121, and the unexposed five-year-old returns with the Henry Daly yard in great form.

14:25 – Ga Law

There’s not much to separate this trio, but GA LAW has created a good impression since being switched to fences and can make the most of the handy four-year-old allowance he receives. He didn’t show a great deal on his only start over hurdles for this yard last season, but he has been much improved since going chasing, impressing with his jumping when making the most of a good opportunity at Fontwell (the favourite flopped) before winning a handicap with plenty to spare at Exeter. It was impressive how he cruised nine and a half lengths clear at Exeter and he is well worth his place in this better contest.

15:00 – Sceau Royal

SCEAU ROYAL flopped in the Champion Chase on his final start last season – he came home last of five – but, having undergone a wind operation, he looked as good as ever when winning the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las last month. Sceau Royal travelled powerfully at Ffos Las before quickly settling matters and that form is better than anything his rivals here can boast. Sceau Royal, who won this race four years ago and has since developed into a high-class chaser, should prove difficult to beat.

15:35 – Danny Whizzbang

Paul Nicholls has an excellent record in this race and is looking for a fourth win in a row. Present Man, who won in 2017 and 2018, has solid claims but Nicholls has an even stronger contender in Danny Whizzbang. DANNY WHIZZBANG won both starts over hurdles, but he is very much a chasing type on looks and took his form to another level when winning a Grade 2 at Newbury on his first start over fences. He failed to meet expectations in two subsequent outings but shaped better than the result would suggest both times, and an opening mark of 145 looks lenient. He has undergone a second wind operation and should be primed to launch a bold bid for his in-form yard.

16:05 – Mont Segur

MONT SEGUR shaped with plenty of promise when finishing third at Wincanton on his debut last November, and he progressed as expected to get off the mark at Ludlow the following month, despite still looking a bit raw. Mont Segur has not been seen since and has undergone a wind operation, but he returns with his yard in excellent form and he looks up to conceding a penalty.
