The Masters marks the season’s first major golf tournament, and it won’t be long before the world’s best are teeing it up at the famous Augusta course.
John Rahm is the reigning champion, shooting a three-under-par 69 in the final round for a total winning score of 276 in 2023. He was four strokes ahead of Brooks Kopeka and Phil Mickelson.
As is tradition, the Masters is held at the historic Augusta National Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia making it the only major on the calendar that doesn’t rotate venues.
Often seen as the most prestigious of the four majors, the winner adorns the famous Green Jacket and earns a lifetime invitation to the event.
The field is traditionally smaller because the event remains invitation-only, differing from the other three majors you can qualify for.
It’s incredibly hard to predict a winner, but Rahm, who’s looking to defend his title, is likely to be a strong contender alongside 2022 winner Scottie Scheffler and Irishman Rory Mcllroy.
The Masters is the only major that has eluded Mcllroy in his illustrious career so he will be doing all he can to win and finally claim a career Grand Slam.
