The 2022/23 PGA Tour season has reached its final destination as the top 30 players head to Atlanta for the Tour Championship. The world’s best golfers will compete for supremacy as the FedEx Cup season-long campaign comes to a spectacular conclusion. East Lake Golf Club provides the perfect arena for showcasing the skills and nerves of steel that are required to claim victory at this prestigious event. With the tiered handicap system in place this week, it will be extremely difficult for those multiple shots back to catch the world’s best at the top. With this in mind, we’ll jump into our picks this week.

Rory McIlroy – Tour Championship Winner

Rory McIlroy finished third in the FedEx Standings, meaning he goes into the competition (-7) three shots behind Scottie Scheffler. Rory has the ability and the form to catch the American, just as he did last season. Rory McIlroy has won this format twice, both times coming from multiple shots behind and I feel the structure of this tournament suits Rory. He goes into the Tournament without the pressure of leading from the front. The Holywood native’s form has been outstanding lately, finishing in the Top-Ten in his last nine events and if the putter can get hot this week I’d expect him to take home the spoils Sunday evening.

Xander Schauffele – 72 Hole Lowest Score

Xander Schauffele starts the tournament seven shots back (-3) so he will be aggressive from the start. He had a very solid showing at the BMW Championship last weekend finishing up in T-8th. His course form appeals here at East Lake. Of all entrants in the field this week Xander holds the lowest average score around this track of 67.25. On top of the consistency he also won this event here back here in 2017, so if you’re looking for value this weekend Xander is your man.

Brian Harman – 72 Hole Lowest Score (Each-Way)

Brian Harman has had a breakout season on Tour this year, punctuated with his first major win at the Open. His form has been extremely solid all year and it has cemented him a seat on the plane to Rome for the Ryder Cup. Last weekend he had another brilliant showing at the BMW Championship finishing up in T-5th. In terms of course form, Harman has only reached this stage twice but he’s averaged under par in both showings. The Georgian native’s form along with a very appealing price makes the lefty one to watch for the 72-hole score.
