The biggest names in the game are heading to TPC Harding Park in San Francisco for the 102nd edition of the PGA Championships this week. It’s the first Major since the resumption of golf after lockdown and the weather, specifically the wind, could play a big factor in the first couple of days at least.
Those with an earlier tee time on Thursday could be in with a good shout of leading the PGA Championship after day one and we’ve got some interesting value plays on offer as a result. But who will emerge triumphant overall? Well, we’ve compiled a handy 5 Form Factors piece for your consideration before placing your bet.
But, on to the favourites and Paddy can’t separate Brooks Koepka and the in-form Justin Thomas. They’re the same price at publication but our golf guru Martin Mathews has pipped for the latter and you can find out why here. He’s thrown in a few longer priced players that could have a good shout as well so well worth a look.
Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are next in the market at around 12s with both earning the title of World No.1 recently before relinquishing it to the current holder Thomas.
However, it’s Xander Schauffele that’s caught the eye of our golf trader Ian McLaughlin. The American has been performing well in the Majors recently and always seems to show up when the heat is on.
Elsewhere the legend Tiger Woods is an outsider but a change of putter could see him back on target here. We’ll be interested to see how our mate Tommy Fleetwood goes after picking up a few pointers in the game-changing Paddy Power Golf Shootout back in June.
Shane Lowry has insisted in his Paddy Power column this week that he’s loving being back in the heat of battle and is relishing the feeling of Major competition once again so will be one to look out for. Beefy Bryson Dechambeau is always hard to miss and he’s expected to be one of our front-runners again.
