F1 Tips: Brazilian Grand Prix best bets featuring an 11/2 Pierre Gasly punt

Can the Alpine ace bag points this weekend?

Formula 1 cars at the Brazilian Grand Prix

The Americas triple-header concludes with a trip to Interlagos for the Brazilian Grand Prix – and it’s another Sprint weekend, which gives Lando Norris a bonus chance to further cut Max Verstappen’s lead in the drivers’ championship.

Verstappen’s penalty-ridden race in Mexico helped Norris cut the gap to 47 points with four rounds left of the 2024 campaign, while the constructors’ championship is also in play as Ferrari have won the last two Grands Prix to overtake Red Bull as McLaren’s nearest challengers. It’s getting exciting, folks.

Our tipster Alex Harris has run the rule over Paddy Power’s Brazilian Grand Prix betting and picked out a few fancies.

F1 Tips

Sprint Qualifying – Charles Leclerc
Winner – Lando Norris
Points Finish – Pierre Gasly

WHEN: Saturday, November 2 – 14:00 (Sprint)/Sunday, November 3 – 17:00 (Race)
WHERE: Interlagos Circuit
TV: Sky Sports F1

Sprint Qualifying – Charles Leclerc

Ferrari are the team in form following victories in the two previous legs of the Americas triple-header in the United States and Mexico.

That momentum means the Italian team, who have bagged pole position at three of the last seven Grands Prix, should, in theory, overcome the lack of practice time offered by the Sprint weekend format and have their car ready to go for Sprint Qualifying.

The Qualifying session for last season’s Grand Prix at Interlagos took place after one practice session and Charles Leclerc proved to be the best of the rest behind Max Verstappen’s Red Bull rocket ship.

Leclerc is a classy operator over one lap and looks a solid price for a driver that is bound to be in the shake up in SQ3.

Winner – Lando Norris

Lando Norris really needs to be bagging maximum points in the Race if he wants to win the drivers’ title after missing out on the top spot in the United States and Mexico.

The latter race – in which he finished second behind Carlos Sainz – was a return to form following McLaren’s relative struggles at the Circuit of the Americas the previous week.

While Ferrari have momentum on their side, Norris gets the nod to take the chequered flag on account of last season’s fine second-place finish behind Max Verstappen.

Interlagos should suit the MCL38 – the tricky ‘S’ section is the only part of the track where the car could prove vulnerable – and Norris should be in contention if the boffins on the pit wall nail the strategy.

Points Finish – Pierre Gasly

The improvement Pierre Gasly has extracted from the upgraded Alpine is one of the stories that has flown under the radar during the Americas triple-header.

The Frenchman qualified seventh for the United States Grand Prix before tumbling down the order as a result of poor strategy and held on for a point in Mexico after qualifying eighth.

The fact Haas just get better and better means the route to a Points Finish has become increasingly competitive, but Gasly has a decent record at Interlagos, scoring points on three of his previous six visits including a second place in 2019.

Nico Hülkenberg to secure a Points Finish has been a regular tip in this column in 2024, but the German and Haas team-mate Kevin Magnussen, who finished ninth and seventh respectively last weekend, are difficult to back at odds-on prices ahead of practice.
