2am: Brazil v Colombia

Over 2.5 Goals

Brazil opened their Copa America campaign with an unconvincing scoreless draw against Costa Rica last week, but they appear to have kicked their tournament into life with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Paraguay last time out.

Brazil were absolutely clinical in that recent performance, particularly in the first half when they scored three goals to put the game to bed. Colombia, meanwhile, were similarly ruthless in their 3-0 victory over Costa Rica last time out and showed no signs of struggling against Costa Rica’s defensive resilience as Brazil had done.

Their 2-1 victory over Paraguay in the opening game of the tournament means that they will top the group if they avoid defeat on Tuesday night, putting the onus on Brazil to find a way to win. They may need to score at least twice to do that, with Colombia scoring five goals in two games and capable of causing considerable problems for the Brazilian defence.

Vinicius Junior to Score

Vinicius Jr. had scored just three goals in 31 international appearances prior to Brazil’s meeting with Paraguay, where he almost doubled that tally in a single game. Vinicius was imperious in that win over Paraguay, scoring a double at the end of the first half to put the result beyond doubt. His pace and trickery were a constant threat on the left wing and his confidence will surely have soared after scoring his first-ever goals in the Copa America.

Vinicius came into the tournament off the back of an outstanding club campaign that saw him score 24 times in 39 appearances for Real Madrid as Los Blancos won La Liga and the Champions League. He has now overcome the international hoodoo with his goalscoring performance against Paraguay and can kick on in this Group D decider on Tuesday night.

Over 9.5 Corners

There have been exactly ten corners in each of Brazil’s two games at the Copa America so far, with the Selecao winning an average of 7.5 corners per game at the competition. That high corner count is hardly a surprise considering Brazil have averaged 18 shots per game and five shots on target per game at the competition to date.

They are likely to record similar figures against Colombia on Tuesday given that they must win the game to top the group and avoid an excellent Uruguay side in the quarter-finals. With that in mind, there is a good chance that Brazil will lay siege to the Colombia goal at stages on Tuesday night, giving them an excellent chance of winning a fairly high number of corners.

Colombia will most likely look to hurt Brazil on the counterattack and should win a fair number of corners themselves.

2am: Costa Rica v Paraguay

Both Teams to Score, No

Costa Rica actually have a mathematical chance of reaching the knockout stages of the Copa America if they can beat Paraguay and Colombia can beat Brazil. However, they will also need to overturn a six-goal deficit on goal difference, meaning their chances are virtually zero. Not only have Costa Rica failed to score at the Copa America so far, but they have failed to even register a shot on target in the competition.

Paraguay, already eliminated after successive defeats against Brazil and Colombia, have at least managed to score in both games and will look to end their tournament on a high with a win over their CONCACAF opponents. They should do so while simultaneously registering a clean sheet.

Paraguay, Corner Match Bet

Costa Rica’s attacking intent at the Copa America has been negligible.

That is fairly understandable considering they are by far the weakest team in Group D and they are unlikely to change their approach too much against Paraguay on Tuesday night. Costa Rica have registered just three corners in their two games at the competition and a combined total of seven shots – with none finding the target.

Paraguay, on the other hand, have found the target nine times against the same opponents as Costa Rica, winning seven corners. They are likely to dominate the statistics on Tuesday night and should win more corners than their opponents.
