Celebrate good times, come on! Euro 2024 is into the second round of games and Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson’s still up on cloud nine as the best in the continent continue to go at it.
Instead of kicking back and getting ready for the new club season he’s answered the international call and will be delivering his Euro 2024 predictions every bloomin’ day of the tournament right here on Paddy Power News.
Saturday sees some tasty tussles with some of the surprise packages on show as well as Belgium, who badly need to win after their poor opener. Georgia v Czech Republic gets the ball rolling before Turkey v Portugal and Belgium v Romania close out the second round of group games.
It’s looking like another belting day so here’s how Lawro thinks it’s all going to go down with his crafty calls added in to a tasty treble for good measure. Take it away, Lawro.

This Georgia v Czech Republic game is an interesting one because Georgia had a real go at Turkey and were done by two wondergoals and one on the counter when the keeper was up for a last-minute corner. That was one of the games of the tournament without a doubt.
The Czechs need a win here after narrowly losing to Portugal 2-1 in what was another really entertaining game with goalkeeper mistakes, another great goal and a bit of VAR. I wonder if Georgia might be a bit gone in the head after their game so I’ll go for the Czechs to take it 2-1 but for Both Teams To Score.
You have to fancy Cristiano Ronaldo and the lads in this Turkey v Portugal match. They went a goal down to the Czechs but didn’t panic and found a way to get the win. I’m not sure Turkey will be able to lay a glove on them after that Georgia slugfest.
I think that will have taken a lot out of them because it was so chaotic. I’ll go with 2-0 to Portugal. The price looks good on Portugal (-1) goal in the handicaps.
The second round of games finishes with Belgium v Romania. Belgium were on the wrong end of that shock loss to Slovakia so they’ll be desperate to win this.
Romania have been the surprise package and they’ll be on a high but the cat’s among the pigeons in that group, especially if this ends as I think it will with a 2-1 win for Belgium. They don’t look good at the back but they surely can’t be as bad going forward as they were in their opener so Belgium to Win and Both Teams To Score could be a good play.
