After a really impressive showing during qualifying, Portugal are expected to hit the ground running at Euro 2024 when they take on the Czech Republic on Tuesday night. Roberto Martinez’s side stamped their ticket to this summer’s showpiece in style, racking up a perfect record of 10 wins out of 10. On top of that, the Selecao scored 36 goals and conceded just twice.
While Portugal will be coming up against opposition of a higher calibre in Germany, they should dispatch a Czech Republic side that endured a challenging Euro 2024 qualification campaign. Portugal made light work of the Czechs home and away in their Nations League group and they should put in another professional performance to pick up all three points in Leipzig.
Cristiano Ronaldo to Score
Even at the age of 39, Cristiano Ronaldo looks to be in scintillating form heading into Euro 2024. The iconic forward scored 10 goals in nine appearances during qualifying and has since added a further two strikes to his record-extending tally on the international stage.
Despite Portugal crashing out of Euro 2020 in the round of 16, Ronaldo still managed to finish as joint-top goalscorer at the tournament.
CR7 could fill his boots in what looks like a soft section, and he looks primed to open his Euro 2024 account at the first attempt.

Tomas Soucek to be Shown a Card
Tomas Soucek has never been one to shy away from a tackle, and the Czech midfielder looks good value to land himself in trouble with the referee on Tuesday night.
The West Ham midfielder was averaging 1.75 fouls per game during qualifying and his combative streak will almost certainly be on show against Roberto Martinez’s star-studded side.
The Czech Republic skipper was cautioned seven times in the Premier League this season and he looks a strong contender for a card in this Group F clash.
Rafael Leao to be Fouled 2 or more Times
Rafael Leao’s pace and trickery are a constant threat to defenders, meaning he’s no stranger to being on the receiving end of fouls.
The Portugal forward was fouled on average once per game in Euro 2024 qualifying, while he was drawing an average of 1.86 fouls per 90 for AC Milan in Serie A this season.
Leao therefore looks like good value to pick up a couple of free kicks against a Czech side that will likely try to sit in and soak up the Portuguese pressure.
