Arsenal v Chelsea
Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, London
TV: TNT Sports, Tuesday, 8pm

Over 3.5 Goals

Chelsea and Arsenal enjoyed very different Saturday evenings, with Chelsea bowing out of the FA Cup and Arsenal getting back on track in the Premier League title race with a win at Wolves.

The Gunners simply must beat Chelsea on Tuesday to put pressure on Manchester City but will face stiff opposition against a side that has demonstrably improved in recent weeks. Their narrow 1-0 defeat to City aside, Chelsea have been one of the most entertaining teams in England in recent weeks in terms of goals per game.

Each of their eight games prior to Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat saw four goals or more, with Chelsea scoring at least twice in all eight games and conceding at least twice in seven.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have not been involved in many high-scoring Premier League games of late, with each of their last six league games witnessing three goals or fewer.

However, Chelsea’s wretched defensive record, which has seen them keep just one league clean sheet since mid-January, should make for an entertaining game on Tuesday. The reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge produced a pulsating 2-2 draw and it would not be surprising to see a similarly high-scoring affair.

Chelsea to have 4 or more Shots on Target

Arsenal have only faced a total of nine shots on target in their five league games since the international break, but they may be given a stern examination by a Chelsea attack that has scored 12 goals in their last three league outings.

Chelsea have registered a whopping 41 shots on target in their five games since the international break and tend to raise their level when taking on a member of the Big Six.

In ten games against the Big Six in league and cup competitions, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have registered 62 shots on target at an average of over six shots per game. They have only failed to register at least four shots on target on two occasions – against Manchester United back in December and against Liverpool in January.

The Blues registered five shots on target when Arsenal travelled to Stamford Bridge in October, the joint-most that Arsenal have faced in a league game. They are decent value to register four efforts on goal on Tuesday.

Over 5.5 Cards

Chelsea’s disciplinary record is almost as lamentable as their league position. Pochettino’s side boast the second-worst disciplinary record in the league after Sheffield United, collecting 90 bookings and three red cards in 31 games this season, an average of exactly three cards per game.

Arsenal are at the very opposite end of the table, boasting the second-best record in the league after Manchester City. The Gunners have picked up just 51 yellow cards and two dismissals in 32 games this season at an average of fewer than two cards per game.

However, this is a high-stakes derby match that could potentially play a role in the title race, so there is every chance that the temperature will rise a notch. There were six cards issued in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, while Arsenal have picked up seven bookings in their last three league games.

Cole Palmer to Score or Assist

Chelsea owe much of their late-season mini-revival to Cole Palmer, who has almost single-handedly carried them into the top half of the table. Palmer has scored or assisted in each of his last six league appearance, registering an astonishing 13 goal involvements in that six-game spell.

He has scored 20 goals and registered nine assists in the league for Chelsea, meaning he has been involved in almost exactly half of all league goals for the club this season. He is by far the most likely Chelsea player to score or assist at the Emirates on Tuesday night and is good value to do so.

Over 5.5 Arsenal Corners

Only Liverpool and Manchester City have won more corners than Arsenal’s tally of 234 this season. Mikel Arteta’s side are averaging over seven corners per game and are likely to win at least six when Chelsea come to town.

The Gunners also average the third-highest shots and shots on target per game in the league and are likely to create a number of opportunities. They will put Chelsea under significant pressure at points on Tuesday night, especially if they find themselves drawing or losing in the second half.

The hosts should dominate territory, which gives them every chance of winning at least six corners.
