UNDER 3.5 GOALS

It is fair to say that the time of the season has arrived whereby every single game is vital with so few games remaining. Therefore, those chasing automatic promotion and a play-off spot, such as Leeds and Hull, the pressure only intensifies.

Leeds were on a four-game run of matches containing three goals or less prior to Friday’s 2-2 draw at Watford; where the match xG was below 2.00, whilst Hull has seen only one of their previous 14 in all competitions feature at least four goals. With this also being a Yorkshire derby, this could easily turn into quite a scrappy but tactical affair with Under 3.5 Goals.

PATRICK BAMFORD TO COMMIT 1 OR MORE FOULS

For all that Hull are winless in five, the general consensus across the season is that they’re a well organised side that is hard to beat. They’ve added a touch of class in attack to offer a greater goal threat, even if they don’t always take their chances.

This is a team that has won away at Leicester and Southampton, and they are capable of nullifying the opposition. They ideally need the win here Hull, but don’t expect them to go all-out from the very off.

The plan will be to not allow Leeds the space they desire and it could lead to some home frustration. Jacob Greaves is still banned but Sean McLoughlin is another strong type that will sit alongside Alfie Jones in defence.

Leeds lone striker Patrick Bamford will be on the end of some rough treatment and this trio could form quite a feisty battle on the pitch. Bamford has made a foul in three of his last five games and with the added factor of few games remaining and Premier League football on the line, his frustration could play out once more given he’ll be involved in a physical battle from the off so I fancy Bamford To Commit at least one Foul.

ALFIE JONES TO COMMIT 1 OR MORE FOULS

Bamford is one side of the argument, Alfie Jones is the other. He has been a mainstay in the Hull back line all season and with his usual centre back partner Greaves out, he’ll take up more responsibility.

Without Greaves beside him against Stoke on Friday, he committed 2 or more fouls in a game for only the four time all season and three of those happened within the last six games, which again highlights how much pressure is on matches at this time of year.

Leeds have an array of attacking talent to the envy of practically every other Championship club, so Hull are going to have to soak up some considerable pressure at times. Bamford is an experienced campaigner so don’t be surprised to see him buy a foul or two off Jones in their battle.

JADEN PHILOGENE TO HAVE 1 OR MORE SHOTS ON TARGET

One of the top talents in the Championship is Hull winger Jaden Philogene and he is one who thrives on the big stage. A derby clash against a Leeds side near the top of the table in a televised fixture is just the occasion the former Aston Villa man will relish.

Despite missing the best part of two months with injury, he is their joint-highest league scorer, so there is big expectancy on him to deliver. He is seven without a goal, which is likely a big reason why Hull are finding wins so hard to come by of late.

However, he still remains a consistent goal threat in terms of getting shots on goal. Since returning from his two-month injury absence in February, only in two of ten games has Philogene failed to record a shot on target.

OVER 8.5 CORNERS

It is to be expected that both teams will have their spells of pressure and dominance over the course of the 90 minutes. Leeds looked well below their best at Watford on Friday and Hull were very disappointing against Stoke, so both manager’s will demand a big reaction, especially in a derby.

Both teams are seeing an average in the region of 10 corners per Championship game across the season, so this selection should be successful if that manages to hold up. Again, with the increased pressure, this isn’t unlikely to be a one-sided affair and nerves of course will play a part. With each ideally needing the win, the corner count should keep on ticking along so I fancy Over 8.5 to round us off.
