Burnley v Bournemouth
Premier League match at Turf Moor, Burnley
TV: Sky Sports Premier League/Main Event, Sunday, 1pm
Burnley meet Bournemouth on Sunday. For many of us this game is a warm-up to the main event, the Manchester derby, but to these clubs, it really matters. Burnley are deep in the relegation zone but a win here would give them hope of a great escape while Bournemouth need to win to half their slide down the table.
Bournemouth to Win
Neither of these teams are in good form but the Premier League table tells you enough about the sides to know that Bournemouth, with over double the points of Burnley so far, are a superior team by a margin.
Bournemouth haven’t won in the Premier League in 2024 but they’ve still looked good at times and have scored in five of their seven games since that last Premier League win. Burnley come into this having given up 11 goals in their past three games and really looking destined for the drop.
Under 2.5 Goals
Bournemouth are a far better team than Burnley but they’re on the road and have been going through a sticky patch. They’ll come into this looking to keep things tight and not give the home side any easy opportunities.
Because of how this game will be played it’s likely to be a low-scoring one with Under 2.5 Goals a great value play to chuck into the Bet Builder. Bournemouth will edge a tight game with a narrow victory.
Dominic Solanke to have 3 or more Shots
It’s taken him a bit of time to realise his potential but boy, does Dominic Solanke look good right now. It’s hard to see him playing for Bournemouth next season and the Englishman will be hopeful of a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad. It looks like his injury wasn’t as bad as first thought and he’ll be likely to start.
So far this season he’s averaged 3.2 shots per game in the 25 Premier League matches he’s played. Burnley are so weak defensively that it should give Solanke plenty of chances to get his shooting boots on and he’ll almost certainly maintain his average of over three shots per game.
Dominic Solanke to Score
There’s another Solanke leg to add to our Bet Builder. This time we’re backing the 26-year-old to score. He’s hit 14 goals in 25 Premier League games and will be desperate to score again.
He’s the danger man in a Bournemouth team without real star quality. He’s big, strong, and quick and has developed a real eye for space and making key runs, these get him in great positions, which then allow him to shoot and to continue growing his goals tally.
Sander Berge to Commit 1 or more Fouls
The final leg of the Bet Builder revolves around Burnley’s Norwegian star Sander Berge, a frequent starter in midfield who is the second biggest fouler at the club. January singing Lorenz Assignon leads the way averaging two per game, but it’s hard to tell if that will last. Meanwhile, Sander Berge is just behind on 1.2 fouls per game, tied with fellow midfield Josh Brownhill who is suspended.
With Brownhill out it’s merely going to make Berge’s day harder and therefore increase his chances of committing a foul. He’ll be up against the likes of Lewis Cook, Alex Scott, and Justin Kluivert, all players who can draw fouls and will make the afternoon tough for Berge.
