    Bournemouth v Man City
Premier League match at the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
TV: Sky Sports Premier League & Main Event, Saturday, 5:30pm

As a neutral, I really enjoyed City’s two modes. The first was a team who obliterated everyone and who were clearly not only the best team in the league, but in the world.

Their other mode was a capitulating mess, reliant on their near-perfect nature to get by. Now, they appear to be just doing enough. And sure, where’s the fun in that?

It’s borderline unbearable – and for a team who typically play the heel, seeing them do it the hard way is just too antagonizing as it gives us hope.

Bournemouth are a funny type in that they often look a top-eight side, but frequently look like relegation fodder. Ironically, they’re the anthesis to the oasis of calm that Man City have become. Are we expecting a classic on the south coast?

      Man City to Win

      No, we’re not.

I generally like jumping against a price when City are hammering teams left, right, and centre because they’re always due a burn-out. At this rate, they’re just kind of backable at these odds.

For all the cases you can make about Bournemouth being likely to cause problems, you’re not being asked to back a tens-on shot when siding with Pep and Co., so it’s wise to take a good thing when you can.

If City had been handed a tougher draw than Luton in the FA Cup during the week, I’d be a bit more hesitant but a rotation for the Cup game is well and truly on the cards.

        Erling Haaland to Score

I always laugh when people suggest the big Norwegian just scores in handy victories. It’s not really the case, he’s just a statistical victim of a team who are prone to score five or six in a given week.

Last week brought about a very clear sign that he’s being relied upon when the chips are down and his game-winning goal could against Brentford last weekend be a sign of things to come.

The Cherries have hardly defended key opposition players well this year, either, having coughed up twice to Darwin Nunez, conceding to Ollie Watkins, Son Heung-min, Saka, Richarlison as well. They’re not a blanket team by any stretch.

Erling Haaland to Have 2 or more Shots on Target

And he’ll have plenty of opportunity to do that, as well. For all that we can poke fun at Bournemouth, they do genuinely play through a press quite well and their slow build-up means they’re prone to rattling off wins in a row when they’re in sync.

Now, that’s all well and good until you run into the traps that Pep sets for teams high up the pitch, and I think we’ll see a situation play out where Haaland is the primary beneficiary.

        Under 2.5 Goals

And yet, for all the confidence I have, I’m more convinced that City will keep this incredibly dull facade up for another week, particularly when you factor in that Bournemouth themselves will make attacking concessions to limit Man City’s Rodri.

Where do the goals come from on a pitch that tight with a team that play such intricate football?

Romain Faivre to Commit a Foul

Romain Faivre missed last week due to illness and his loan from Lorient means the Premier League faithful have yet to see this hatchet man in full flight, but I assure you, if he’s fit, he’ll be the one responsible for ‘doing a job’.
