Tuesday’s Football Acca Tips

7:45pm – Ipswich v Rotherham – Ipswich and Over 2.5 Goals
7:45pm – Plymouth v West Brom – Plymouth To Score the First Goal
7:45pm – Cambridge v Bolton – Draw at 20 Minutes
7:45pm – Gillingham v Stockport – Stockport Over 0.5 First Half Goals
8pm – Reading v Port Vale – Under 2.5 Goals

IPSWICH V ROTHERHAM – IPSWICH AND OVER 2.5 GOALS

After a sudden drop in form across December and January, Ipswich look to be firmly back on track in their bid to win consecutive promotions. Ever since half-time in the Preston match a few weeks ago, things appear to have changed favourably for The Tractor Boys. Having comfortably defeated out of sorts Millwall and battled past Swansea, they’ll expect to get the job done over rock bottom Rotherham.

Rotherham have their own agenda in terms of avoiding relegation, but last won on Boxing Day, leaving them adrift at the foot of the standings and in the bottom-three in general. All bar three Ipswich home league matches have contained at least three goals and they’ve earned just three clean sheets as well.

PLYMOUTH V WEST BROM – PLYMOUTH TO SCORE THE FIRST GOAL

One thing that is certain for Plymouth is that they’ll go for it in every game they play. For all that it has led to their own downfall at times, they’re the seventh-highest Championship scorers and this will be a tough night for West Brom; win, lose or draw. For all that WBA have impressed at home recently, they have had issues on the road. Since the start of December, they’ve only beaten bottom-side Rotherham away, losing four others in the process.

It has been a busy schedule for Argyle, but resting star striker Ryan Hardie to the bench at the weekend may prove to be a wise move by Ian Foster. He’ll be raring to go and given Albion’s issues away from The Hawthorns they could fall under early on. Only Ipswich and Leeds have netted more first-half home goals compared to Plymouth.

CAMBRIDGE V BOLTON – DRAW AT 20 MINUTES

This match originally took place a few weeks ago but a deluge of rain led to the Abbey Stadium being deemed unplayable shortly into the match. This therefore could be something of a slow-burner knowing they have to try and do things all over again. Cambridge will be upbeat after an emphatic 4-0 win at Carlisle on Saturday, which eases the pressure on them in their battle against relegation.

A series of draws for Bolton recently has certainly proved to be a frustration for them but they do have vital games in hand to try and regain control of an automatic promotion place.

Cambridge have recorded 67% of their League One goals scored in the second half of games, and with only Peterborough averaging more possession than Bolton in the division then expect the hosts to try and keep things tight early on by forming a compact shape behind the ball.

GILLINGHAM V STOCKPORT – STOCKPORT OVER 0.5 FIRST HALF GOALS

It is consecutive losses for promotion hopefuls Stockport after previously being defeated just once in nine. Thankfully for Dave Challinor and his side they remain top, however the likes of Mansfield, Wrexham and Crewe are hot on their tails. They won’t change their attacking approach and the League Two top scorers will look to score their way out of this mini-slump.

That won’t be easy against a Gillingham outfit with one of the strongest defensive records in the league but they’ve found home victories hard to come by of late. Challinor can be expected to fire his lads up for this and this could result in an inspired showing from the very off. Furthermore, this game puts together the highest first-half scorers versus the lowest, so County will fancy their chances of another strike in the opening 45.

READING V PORT VALE – UNDER 2.5 GOALS

The 4-1 defeat to top of the table Portsmouth on Saturday was a bump in the road for Reading in their battle against the drop but they had been on a six-match unbeaten run beforehand. All six of those didn’t see a single clash feature a minimum of three goals, and another close encounter is expected here given they face fellow relegation candidates Port Vale.

Darren Moore took charge of his first Vale game at the weekend, losing 3-2 to Cheltenham, who leapfrogged them in the table in the process. Moore always looks to get his teams organised first and foremost, and improving them defensively will be his first port of call to improve their fortunes. That should contribute to this bottom-seven meeting being quite a cagey affair. Five of Reading’s last six at home fell below 2.5 goals.
