Newcastle To Win

It’s Fulham against Newcastle United under the lights at Craven Cottage as both sides go in search of a spot in the FA Cup Fifth Round. The home side cruised past Rotherham to make it to this stage, but come into the fixture off the back of a disappointing defeat in another Cup competition as Liverpool knocked them out of the Carabao Cup in midweek. Newcastle head to the Cottage thanks to a convincing win over their bitter rivals Sunderland.

Eddie Howe’s side have had plenty to deal with off the field, but they will look to put things right on the pitch as they go in search of silverware. These sides met just before Christmas in a Premier League clash that ended with three goals and three points for the Geordies. Fulham have only won one of their last eight games against Premier League opposition and could suffer a similar fate against the Toon in this one.

Harrison Reed To Commit 2+ Fouls

In the engine room for Fulham, box-to-box midfielder Harrison Reed looks to break up play for Marco Silva’s men and even captained the side in the previous round of this competition. With the Cottagers playing a full-strength team just a few days ago, expect a rotated team with the likes of tough-tackling Joao Palhinha and midfield maestro Tom Cairney earning a well-deserved rest. Reed has earned himself four bookings this season, and I expect him to get stuck in against a tough Newcastle midfield.

Sean Longstaff to have 1+ Shot on Target

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff has earned himself a reputation for breaking forward for the Magpies at any given opportunity. The local hero certainly isn’t afraid to get a shot away, which was demonstrated in the last round against Sunderland, where he fired in four efforts at goal.

Longstaff will look to impose himself as an attacking threat, and I expect him to land at least one shot on target. If Eddie Howe looks to play an altered side, Lewis Miley is also a contender for a shot on target, having scored his first ever goal for Newcastle when these two sides last met.

Fulham Goalkeeper To Make 3 Or More Saves

With the attacking threats of Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak, the Fulham backline could end up under immense pressure. There has been an average of six goals per game scored in the previous FA Cup ties between Newcastle and Fulham, which tees itself up nicely for an attacking display from both sides in this matchup. Marco Silva will likely give second-choice goalkeeper Marek Rodak minutes in this one, and he’ll be tested by the Newcastle attack.

Over 3.5 Newcastle United Corners

With Rodak’s Fulham goal potentially under threat from the away side, Newcastle’s corners could tally up. Against Sunderland, the Magpies raked in five corners as they exploited the Black Cats defence. This was the same number of corners as they managed against Fulham in the previous meeting at St. James Park. With attacking play on the agenda, I’m expecting an open and exciting game at Craven Cottage.
