Juventus v Roma
Serie A match at Allianz Stadium, Turin
Saturday, December 30 – 7:45pm
TV: TNT Sports
Both Teams to Score
Of course, Juventus are known the world over for their bastion-like defence. The Old Lady, however, have conceded now in five of their last six Serie A games. Roma’s record away to these opponents leaves a lot to be desired, winning in just one of their last five visits, but they’ve scored five goals over that period.
Jose Mourinho’s side are in strong form too, winning three of their last five, drawing one and losing one so we’re expecting them to rattle the net at least once. Juve have seven over their last five at home and seven over their last five over all games so a Both Teams to Score pick has to start us off.
Over 2.5 Roma Cards
Both side have picked up 44 yellow cards this season with the away side ahead on the disciplinary table with an additional red card. However, looking into recent away Serie A games the Romans have been a tad naughty, picking up, 4, 1, 4, 4 and 4 yellow cards over their last five on their travels and that’s a trend we have to exploit.

Paulo Dybala to have 1 or more Shots on Target
Former Juve man, Paulo Dybala came close to scoring in this fixture last season and will be eager to test out the reflexes of Wojciech Szczesny between the Juve sticks. The Argentine forward has averaged a whopping 2.3 shots per game this season in the league and we’re marking him down to have at least one here.
Dusan Vlahovic to have 2 or more Shots on Target
Serbia’s Dusan Vlahovic has had even more shots per game than Dybala, registering 2.7 shots per game. We generally tend to see him substituted towards the end of games with former Everton flob Moise Kean coming on in his stead. Kean, however, is on the injury table at the moment so we should see Vlahovic lasting the full 90 minutes.
With Frederico Chiesa out injured, Vlahovic will be partnered with Poland’s Arkadiusz Milik with the Pole playing in the support role. Adrien Rabiot loves a shot too but in playing a more traditional 4-4-2 here, Vlahovic is going to be the main goal-scoring threat and he should be getting at least two Shots on Target against Rui Patricio.
Over 4.5 Juventus Corners
Jose Mourinho’s side will, no doubt, sit back here and aim to soak up pressure and try to land their punches on the counter. Juventus will be facing nine defenders here with Dybala and Romelu Lukaku staying up the pitch to run for long passes. We should see plenty of shots from distance then which will lead to corners. Also, the Old Lady have averaged 5.75 corners per home Serie A game so far this season, they can certainly get five against a side who’ll be sitting back, aiming to draw them into making mistakes.
