Nottingham Forest take on Manchester United at 5.30pm before Liverpool tackle Newcastle on New Year’s Day and Brighton head to West Ham on Tuesday.
So, with so much action to get stuck in to, it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who’s full of Festive cheer ahead of another packed week of footy action.
Saturday 12.30pm: Luton v Chelsea
TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Ultimate
Luton had a great result on Boxing Day and I thought it would be difficult for whoever they were playing because it was going to be a wave of emotion. Chelsea beat Crystal Palace but they weren’t very convincing. I’.m just wondering if Luton might experience a bit of anticlimax. I’m going tio go for a rare Chelsea away win. Luton 1-2 Chelsea.
Saturday 3pm: Aston Villa v Burnley
Aston Villa were good against Manchester United but their high line got found out in the end. It only takes one person to switch off and you’re toast. We all know how good they are at home though so I will go for Villa to Win. Burnley made Liverpool work hard but I just feel they’re going to come up short. Aston Villa 2-0 Burnley.
Saturday 3pm: Crystal Palace v Brentford
I cant remember the last time Brentford won! Bryan Mbeumo’s still out, I think they’ll be fine in staying up but they’re finding it hard to score at the moment. I’m going to go for Crystal Palace to win this.. Crystal Palace 2-1 Brentford.
Saturday 3pm: Manchester City v Sheffield United
This is just what Sheffield United need! They’ll be competitive and they’ll get stuck in but this will be comfortable for Manchester City. Manchester City 4-0 Sheffield United.
Saturday 3pm: Wolves v Everton
Everton have done really well, especially when you consider that everything seemed to go against them at the start of the season. Sean Dyche’s got them playing nicely but I fancy Wolves here. I think the extra day’s rest will have a big impact. Wolves 2-0 Everton.
Saturday 5.30pm: Nott’m Forest v Manchester United
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
I wonder if that comeback for Manchester United against Aston Villa might be a turning point in their season. As well as they played in that second half, they were helped by Villa’s tactics. United need to improve their away form and they just looked a bit different on Wednesday night. Nottingham Forest 1-2 Manchester United.
Sunday 2pm: Fulham v Arsenal
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Fulham have been struggling lately and I can’t see that changing here. Arsenal are playing later in the week but I just don’t fancy Fulham. Fulham 0-2 Arsenal.
Sunday 2pm: Tottenham v Bournemouth
Bournemouth are on a good run, scoring lots of goals, but Tottenham are at home and they try to blow you away in the first 20 minutes. It’s Spurs for me. Tottenham 2-1 Bournemouth.
Monday 8pm: Liverpool v Newcastle
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
They’re saying that Eddie Howe’s under pressure now but the Champions League does take it out of you. Obviously they’re looked after well but it’s not just the physical side, it’s the emotional side as well. I’m at this game and I think I’ll see Liverpool win. Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle.
Tuesday 7.30pm: West Ham v Brighton
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
I fancy a draw here. West Ham very rarely lose at home and Brighton are in good shape despite not having the biggest squad in the world. West Ham 1-1 Brighton.
