7.45pm: Leeds v QPR – QPR (+2)
TV: Sky Sports Red Button
There’s plenty of games in the EFL Championship on Wednesday night so that calls for another midweek EFL acca. First up we’ll be looking at Leeds v QPR in what is a 9th v 22nd clash following the weekend’s action.
While Leeds have been a little underwhelming this season, especially when compared to how Leicester have started, QPR have been pretty abject. United are undefeated at Elland Road with three wins and a draw while The Rs have taken seven of their eight points this term on the road.
Leeds are Paddy’s massive favourites and it’s easy to see why given the league positions and quality of the squads on display. But QPR have won more points on the road than Leeds have at home this season. There’s every chance Leeds win this at a canter but at the prices I think QPR (+2) is worthy of its place in this acca.
7.45pm: Leicester v Preston – Leicester to Win
TV: Sky Sports Red Button
Up next we’ve got table-toppers Leicester hosting Preston who are going great guns in third. PNE had that crazy run at the start of last season where they scored one goal in their first eight league games but they’ve been a bit more straightforward this time around with 13 scored and 10 conceded in six wins two draws and a loss.
The Foxes have netted 18 times and shipped six in eight wins and just the one loss. Preston were unbeaten until last time out where they were slapped 4-0 at home to West Brom and the point away at Rotherham the week before is also probably considered as a disappointment.
That just feels like a bit of a slide and a trip to the red-hot Leicester is probably the last thing they want right now if they’re to keep their momentum going. It’s short enough but I think Leicester to Win should click.

7.45pm: Sunderland v Watford – Sunderland to Win
TV: Sky Sports Mix
Tony Mowbray’s swashbuckling band of merry EFL wonderkids prepare to do their thing against Watford on Wednesday night with The Hornets hovering above the drop zone in 20th and The Black Cats up in 4th. Sunderland are rightly the favourites here but they’re perhaps not as short as I’d have expected them them to be.
Watford have won just twice this season with both of those coming on home soil. They’ve been dross on the road and have one point from their three matches away from Vicarage Road.
Sunderland have won five of their last seven with the smash-and-grab win by Cardiff the only defeat in that run. Everything’s pointing towards a Sunderland Win here.
7.45pm: Swansea v Norwich – Swansea to Win
TV: Sky Sports Red Button
We’re off to south Wales next where Norwich make the long journey west to tackle Swansea. The Canaries are 7th with five wins, a draw and three losses while The Swans are one place above Watford courtesy of goal difference.
If you want entertainment get yourself down to Carrow Road as David Wagner’s madmen have scored 19 and conceded 16 in just nine games, an average just shy of four goals a game. Swansea had been pretty awful this season until a 2-0 loss at Cardiff which seems to have sparked them into life and they’re on a three game unbeaten run and they won the last two 3-0 a piece.
Norwich are, generally speaking, feast or famine and their worst performances have come outside of East Anglia with just four points taken from their four away games. It’s a bit of a gamble but the home side’s upturn in fortunes, added to Norwich’s poor away-point haul, is tilting me towards a Swansea Win.
8pm: Rotherham v Bristol City – Bristol City to Win
TV : Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football
We’ll round off Wednesday’s wagers with 23rd-placed Rotherham hosting Bristol City who sit in 11th coming into these midweek fixtures. The Millers have won just once this season, at home against our poor-travelling friends Norwich, but they generally stay in games and are often only beaten by the odd goal.
City have shown flashes but they’ve lost two on the bounce. However, the thing that interested me about them here is their away form. It’s better than their home form and they’ve won two and drawn one in their four away games.
Rotherham are struggling to avoid defeats and The Robins will find no better opponent to get back into the groove against than The Millers. It might not be pretty but you have to think Bristol City will Win this one.
