Outright Premier League betting tips

The start of the 2023/24 Premier League season is upon us with Burnley bracing themselves for the visit of reigning champions Manchester City on Friday night.

And with another 10 months of thrills and spills ahead of us, it’s only right that we wind up Paddy ambassador Phil Thompson and watch him go with his predictions and previews for the upcoming season.

Here we’ll be getting Thommo’s verdict on who’s winning the title and who’s going to be filling the remainder of the podium on the English top tier this season.

So, without further ado, take it away Thommo.

Premier League outright winner betting tips

THOMMO: You can’t look any further than Manchester City for the title again at the moment. They’ve got such deep reserves, even with Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez leaving – it’s no great shakes really.

If Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker left you might start getting worried but I still think City, and the way they play, they’ll win the Premier League title once again. Don’t forget, Pep Guardiola, the genius, is still at the helm.

I thought Liverpool would be closer to City than last year for a long time this summer, I think we will be better this season and we’ve signed midfield players that everyone’s been crying out for.

But all of a sudden we’ve lost Jordan Henderson and we’re probably going to lose Fabinho so we’re back to square one. The fans wanted signings and we got Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and you go, ‘That’s good, they’re in the right areas and they’re bringing down the average age of the midfield’.

Lo and behold the Saudi thing builds momentum and, like I say, we’re back to square one. I can’t imagine that was in the planning and Liverpool needed at least three midfield players before they lost anyone so now they need another two minimum.

They also need another centre back. I think Liverpool have got more signings to come. There’s been big links with Romeo Lavia at Southampton. The boy’s 19, he’s a very good player, but it’s going to be difficult to hold down that position for him with the limited experience he has.

I would think there’s at least two more midfield players to come in. I said here a couple of weeks ago that I think Arsenal signing Declan Rice puts them firmly above Liverpool and they’ll pip The Reds to finish 2nd this season.

I fancy Arsenal to continue their upward momentum and I’ve got City 1st, Arsenal 2nd and Liverpool 3rd, back in the Champions League spots.
